1st Wash
1st Wash
This thread is great...lots of information, but also very overwhelming for a newbie...
I'm ready to wash my Carbon Gray TSX for the first time and would like to know what I should do for this initial wash.
I've being reading so much about the clay bars and everything else...what should I do for the first time? Should I go with the advice in one of the postings:
"Wash the car with the Finish First Wash and Conditioner
Dry with Water Blade/Microfiber
Spray on and buff to shine with Zymol Field Glaze quick detailing spray.
Wipe headlights/tail lights/windows and wheels clean. ( I just do a quick job) "
Also, for drying, I bought a "PVA Sponge Cloth" at Target...is that something I should return and get the other cloths that are mentioned above?
As for a sponge, I also bought a "dense chenille wash pad"...not a good thing?
Thanks in advance for the advice...wanna keep the car looking good and don't wanna screw it up on the first wash!

Sup Dallas-TSX, where are you at? Check in at the TX TSXer's thread =P
For drying, I recommend microfiber cloths. Real ones, don't buy them from Walmart/Target. I did and was sorely disappointed. Check around online for microfiber cloths - something called the You really should take a look at Zaino's products... excellent stuff. And they also have very nice cotton applicators that you can use to wash the car with - they're very soft and won't harm the paint. Invest in a high power adjustable nozzle for your garden hose - you'll thank yourself. Look for microfiber gloves as well - great for cleaning rims. Whatever you decide on using for washing, you should rinse it out regularly so as to not allow the dirt/grime to build up on the applicator's surface and then scratching your paint that way.
