1998 Audi A4 Avant

This car, like the Beetle I did last month, also belongs to a good family friend of ours. She has been a regular of mine since 2003 and comes back every year. Anyway, since I've put a bit more into detailing, I can say with a straight face that I know for a fact this car had never been clayed or polished. And it was bad...

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I took them with my iPhone as I couldn't find my camera.

Before...

Sorry for the finger...

The clay bar. At times it wasn't big streaks of black it was pulling off; just sheets of gray.

The hood taped off for polishing. I had to do this with painter's tape because the car is white. I kept losing track of where I had polished.

And finally, the finished product, ready for delivery!

Damn five minute edit!

Anyway...process.

Wash & Dry
Griot's Car Wash & Microfiber Wash Pad
Used pressure washer to get junk out of wheel wells
Used Generic Wash Mitt on Wheels
Dried with Microfiber Drying Towel

Clay & Polish
Griot's Paint Cleaning Clay and AutoMagic Instant Detailer (for lubrication)
Taped off hood into 4 sections, rubber and plastic trim and polished using Griot's Random Orbital, Orange Polishing Pad, and Stage 3 polish

Wax
Griot's Best of Show Wax applied with red wax pad
Allowed to set for an hour and 15 minutes, then removed with MF cloths

Interior
Cleaned and conditioned leather seats and steering wheel with Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner
Leather cleaner works great for those door panel kick scuff marks

Tires & Wheel Arches
Dressed Tires and Black Farings with Griot's Long-Lasting Rubber and Plastic Dressing
Got the Griot's Undercarriage Spray to give the wheel arches that new look.

Sidenote: This car always comes to me completely trashed so it's great job security for me. But personally (and not to toot my own horn), I don't think it has ever left here looking so good. It took me 8 hours (started at 9:45 and finished around 5:30) with only a brief break for lunch.
