They said It couldn't be done.......
So I did it today.
I put on GoodYear Eagle F1's in the 265-35-18 on my aspec TL. All I can say is WOW!! No rubbing at all. Full lock to lock turning. So glad I dumped the yuco's, 20k and showing cords! It is so so quite. Really a BIG difference... This is the way too go folks. I mean the best!

Not to bust your bubble, but those tires should be on a 9" minimum width rim because of the cross section width.
As the GY F1 has actually a small tread size 265/35-18 at 9.0", you can get a 245/35-18 with a 8.9" tread size and you'd never notice the difference. Also the 265 is on 25.3" diameter while the 245 is the more standard size of 25.7".
The 265 has a cross section width of 10.6" compared to a 9.8" of the 245, making it too wide for the rim.

What are you my mother? If I get 20k out of them that will be more than I got out of the Yokohama's.
Of all places, this form I didn't expect to hear (read) that kinda old lady stuff. Why don't you try to ether be nice or don't say anything at all?

I think they look great. According to most people, the 265 is too big for an 8" rim. I've run a 275 on an 8" rim. I'm running a 315 on a 9.5" rim now. They won't pop off, not a chance of that happening. They pop off when people go for the retarded "stretched" look with a wide rim and narrow tire.
What does happen when you run the wide tire on a narrow rim is the footprint changes. It tends to make the middle "cup" or sink inwards so it will wear more on the sides. You may have to run an extra psi or two to get a flat footprint. I initially started my 255s at 40psi and lowered the footprint was right. What I ended up with was 34psi front and 31rear. So much for running more pressure.
Don't worry about what people say as most have never tried this. It is perfectly acceptable to run the 265 on an 8" rim as long as you get the pressure right. In stock form, the little 235s looked way too narrow for the rim anyway and to me made the car look cheap.

yeah man some of the people on here are retarded and really know nothing from experience and just from what they read in an article or brochure..of course the tire manufacturer or car manufacturer wouldnt suggest putting 265s on because they are very very conservative due to law suits...i had 225s on my 6.5 in tl type-s wheel and had no issues...im sure with added pressure the 265 will work..you will lose sidewall stiffness and the car will seem to roll a little more..in my opinion the 255 is about the largest practical size..but congrats on the 265 test!

THANK YOU!!!! Man I have heard so much BS here. And its always from these people who haven't even done it. Well don't get me started on that. But I just wanted to thank you. And did I THANK YOU yet?
Both of you!!
Can you still see the pic's ok? I cant see them now.....

Looks great
Plus, looks like I was wrong about the edge pulling up too much in the rear. From your pic below (which I annotate with the red arrow), your contact patch looks identical to my 255's.

Spiritman,
May I have your permission to post your pictures in my 255 thread (link provided below) ? I want to have this in that thread to show that even the 265 tires fit fine on an 8.0 inch rim. THANKS
Why you should get 255/40-17 tires for your OEM rims !!! (click here)

Thanks for actually putting these tires on, good job. You proved a point. I'm glad you're happy with the tires. I appreciate a quiet tire! 265/35/18 is almost identical to total stock diameter(235/45/17). The differences are that 265 is 29.97mm(1.18inch) wider than stock and of course, smaller sidewall. Maintaining stock diameter, without getting too wide with the tire, is key to "no rubbing".

^^ Although, there are exceptions, the saying, "You get what you pay for," is uslually true.
I understand paying $200 bucks a tire at 20 can be a SERIOUS hardship. But, if you spend $120 a tire and have to change 'em twice as often .... .
BTW - When we got our 2G TL-S, I about shit when I found out OEM replacement tires were $150+ each. But, I bent over and took it like a man ( ) : crying for a week.

Yikes! I can't believe the shop even let you leave with them like that. I dont see the point in trying to shove the fattest tire possible on the thinest rim possible. What are you trying to accomplish here?
Your really giving up the performace of the tires by not using the proper width and putting yourself and other people on the road at risk. Do it right or don't do it at all...

What are you talking about. Have you ever done this? Then don't tell me someone who has. Nuff said.... Quit your cryen...... It works.
PS: what are you talking about giving up performance? Again have you ever driven a car set up like this??????
Then stop the guess work. And let me be me. I see or feel no loss of performance. In fact it feels ssooo much better!!
So unless you have done this = SHUT UP!!!
