Windshield Replacement

Windshield Replacement
Anyone have any advice on getting my Windshield replaced?
I had a rock come up off the road in front of me and hit my windshield at some point this winter and make a little chip which has just decided to crack all across the front windshield in the last week.
I found this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...a-logo-817643/ which is a really good read, but a bit outdated.
I've already called my insurance and was told that glass is not covered under my plan, and would need to pay my deductible to get it replaced (500 dollars ). I figured I can pay out of pocket for far less than that. Regardless of the cost of the windshield I need to get it re-tinted again
I had planned to call some local installers and get some price quotes on new glass, but wanted to reach out to those of you who might have had it replaced and see what if any tips you could give me? Is AP Tech the brand I need to look for, or is the PGW and Plinkington? I've never had to replace a windshield so I'm not sure what questions that I need to be asking.

Our Glass is made by APTech and stamped with a Honda logo to augment its cost for the dealer.
You can use PPG, Pilkington or APTech. Most glass shops have this.

As flyromeo said, Pilkington, APTech or PPG will all be good companies to use. Just make sure that whatever the shop uses is acoustic glass. That's what came on your car, and that's what they should be installing. It deadens the noise from outside a small amount. When I had mine replaced, I told them to use acoustic glass and they didn't, so I made them put another one in.

I went to Speedy Glass. They were good to deal with. The acoustic glass is a bit more expensive, but when I pointed out their error they installed the right one for no charge.

true, ap tech made the oem acura glass. however, ap tech is now named AGC automotive. It is identical to the aptech one, and AGC makes oem glass for many other car manufacturers. When I had mine replaced in 2014, ap tech was already gone, so I opted with an AGC one and have been very happy with it

Just chiming in:
Just had my windshield replaced with dealer glass (AP Tech M8341 w/Acura stamp) by Safelite.
I went through my insurance (State Farm) and told them I wanted OEM glass. They said my cost would be $200, (deductible) plus whatever amount OEM glass would cost if they didn't cover it. I was kinda nervous that they would deny the OEM, since I heard negative stories about State Farm in that regards. Luckily for me, they did cover it and I was out the door for $237 (including wipers).
Best of luck whichever route you take and hopefully you get OEM for a good deal.

Good news!
I managed to call a few installers on Wednesday and again on Thursday to get some prices.
I called a local company on Thursday at 1:30pm and they scheduled me an appointment with an installer the very next day. 235.00 for install. Pilkington Acoustic glass and a lifetime warranty. They came to my work for no extra charge and installed it in lot.
Turned around and got the windshield re-tinted that same day.
I'm not sure he installed my trim correctly around the windshield. It seems a bit raised in some areas? I'll get some pictures, not sure how to go about getting it to lay more flush as it seems to be just slightly raised on the glass in some places.
