Or the 'unofficial' Type-S for '04/5/6.

I have to have the rarest combo of them all! Maybe that's why there's always someone at an Acura dealer that wants to buy it.

Dealer has less than stellar reviews, so might not be that easy to buy it.

I had an unofficial 2004 Type-S, but didn't know it. When I traded it in to buy my official 2008 Type-S, the dealer listed it for sale as a "sport" model. I had no idea.........

My 2008 VIN# ends in 048247. Only 519 were produced afterward spanning about a week before Acura completely stopped production of the 3G.

So based upon the guesstimate of 4670 total Type S production in 2008, then applying the 40 to 1 ratio for 6MT models yields a total of about 120 total Type S 6MT models for 2008? That does not seem like a lot of cars, is it really that rare? I have pestered the service folks at my Acura dealership about the numbers and they just keep saying definitely less than 1000 6MT produced in 2008. I also reached out to Acura customer service and was explicitly told the numbers I was questioning were considered proprietary information and not available to the general public.

If you do the math using a take rate of 2.5-5% for the manual you get between 5,687-11,371 base TL manuals ("sport" models, 04-06) and 2,632-5,265 TL-S (07-08) manuals. 120 is way too low. The CL-S guys have managed to pin down exactly how many manuals were made (~3,500) so probably not super far off using a number closer to the 5%.

Thank you for the clarification. I wish the dealership had more specific data. Two sources from my local dealer in Arizona seem adamant that 2008 saw less Type S 6MT vehicles than 2007.

i would suspect they are correct, 2008 had lowest production totals, and there was pent up demand for Type S in 2007. We will probably never know for sure though.

New guy with an '08 Type S rescue, Kinetic Blue Pearl 5a & cream interior, sitting in Dallas/Fort Worth which has billions of cars. There's at least one more in town, it was for sale for $10k and had the two-tone seats... then the ad disappeared.

As of Feb. 2020: there's a nice black one at a dealer and a handful of cheap beat-to-hell silver, black, and bronze ones on Craigslist and FB Marketplace. Have only seen 1 on the road in the past year or so, a silver 3 blocks from my house.

Beautiful!

My car actually lived in Plano & Frisco from 2010 to 2015, according to Autocheck. Now it's slumming with me in Hurst.

I have been seeing quite a few of these fine machines around the DFW metroplex: my neighborhood silver one is back, a black one on 183 in Irving, and a white one in traffic near my local Target.

Right now FB Marketplace has not 1, not 2, but 3 identical white over 2-tone Type S's, all auto and each with 150-160k miles. Guess that color combo sold well!

Red face The amount of tl type s 6mt made, i think

Hi Guys, sorry for replying on this thread; I think I may have figured out the production value amount for the 3G tl type-s 6mt's. I recently got my hands on a 2008 Acura tl type s 6mt. I was seeing what services needed to be done to my car, so I plugged in a blue driver obd2 reader and started looking at the maintenance schedule. On the app, you also can look at vehicle specifications, and when I scrolled down to the bottom on a menu page, it displayed a transmission id number value out 2846. So if this was a proper way to see how many 2007-2008 6mt tl-s, I would say there were 2846 6mt tl's made. Do take this with a grain of salt. I am a young and a new enthusiast, so I don't know all the ins and outs of production numbers, but I hope this may help us get a picture of how rare these cars are. I am from Canada, so that may skew this value, so if it does, I am sorry about that. I will provide screenshots beneath this text; thank you for taking your time and reading this

I have a 2023 TLX Type S and the last 4 of the vin is 1280--Curious I though All. 2023 cars were in the 2000's for builds? Anyone with a 2023 Type in the 1000s like me?
