Type S leather repair

i have minimal damage on both seat bottoms on the greenish/dark greyish portion of the bottom seat.

i have checked threads and im just looking to see if someone knows anything about a good company or store that will fix this without me having to spend 700 dollars.

Bells in Greenwich CT was trying to charge me 350 a seat. ridiculous.

im in westchester NY wouldnt mind going to NYC

A quality leather conditioner will prevent this from happening. I use Griot's interior cleaner (PH balanced to clean leather) and Griot's Leather Care after they are cleaned. I maintain them once a week with Griots Leather Care Spray... it cleans and conditions in one step and helps feed the conditioner that was applied earlier. Once applied the seats will have a light shine to them until the product penetrates and then they look factory new with a matte sheen.

It's good to always clean the seats when they are looking shiny or glossy. That's dirt on the surface that your ass is using as a polish and eventually it will break down the vinyl coating on most factory leather. If left unconditioned the seating surface will become hard and brittle and will crack in between the perforations like the OP's did.

I use Griot's but any "QUALITY" cleaner and conditioner will work... stay away from Armor All brand or anything you have to question.

Hey man, i was able to look into it and damm they jacked up the prices lol. I showed them my TL's interior and according to them they charge $250 per seat. $650 for the whole interior if you want to do vinyl texture and $1500 if you want the whole entire set of seats with perforated leather. I can vouch for them that the quality of work is good...I saw one of their masterpiece

Armor All has silicone in it that actually DRIES out vinyl, plastic, rubber, etc. It leaves a nice shine and you think it's protecting but it's doing quite the opposite by absorbing and drying out your plastic/vinyl causing your dash to crack for example. I can't even imagine on your leather Please stay away at all costs.

No they do not. Armor All isn't my choice of detailing line because they're subpar, but they have taken out the silicone for years now.

Optimum Leather Protectant is my recommend choice, but it is also only purchasable online. Leather protectant doesn't greatly effect the condition of the seats anyway because the seats aren't even true leather.

anyone know if seats are covered under Acura Care warranty? and if so, does it have to be ripped or just really worn?

Best to ask your dealer. Usually they would, but some dealers are POS.

Just keep denying it's wear and tear...eventually they will stop arguing and free fix your leather. It's all about how much you want it and how much of an asshole you want to be

Somewhat off-topic, but many leather care products do contain a silicone compound - so ...

Whether or not to use a product with silicone is an individual choice, but all of the *white* protectants contain a silicone compound, including ArmorAll and every other popular brand/ product - and none of them will dry out anything to which the product is applied, unless the product ALSO contains a petroleum product (distillate) or solvent, which many of them do. Stodard solvent is a favorite component in many automotive care products. Check the MSDS (manufacturer safety data sheet) to be certain.

Silicone is no longer listed as a component in most product MSDS, even though the product contains it, because the various silicone compounds are not considered toxic and are not tracked by CAS (USA) or other country (such as Canada) tracking numbers. Probably the reason is this continuing incorrect information on the internet that simply will not die - silicone bad - and causes ???

The following is a direct quote from the ArmorAll web site FAQs section, and I commend ArmorAll for their straightforward provision of useful information:

FAQ: What are the ingredients in Armor AllŽ Protectants? Do they include silicone, alcohol, ultraviolet inhibitors and petroleum distillates?
Armor AllŽ Leather Care contains lanolin and natural moisturizers, and UV inhibitors. Armor AllŽ Leather Care Protectant Spray and Leather Wipes contain water-based silicone emulsions, surfactants, and ultraviolet light inhibitors. Armor AllŽ Original Shine Protectant contains water-based silicone emulsions, surfactants, and ultraviolet light inhibitors, humectants, dispersants and gloss enhancers. Armor AllŽ Ultimate Clean Protectant contains water-based silicone emulsions, surfactants, ultraviolet light inhibitors and a fragrance.

FAQ: What is the shelf life of Armor AllŽ Protectant?
The shelf life of Armor AllŽ Protectant is three to five years..

I will say that the 2013 MSDS for ArmorAll Original protectant does list <5% mineral oil (CAS #8042-47-5).

And the reason why I have this information for ArmorAll products is because they are the LEAST TOXIC products that I could find on the market, keeping in mind that many products available only by online purchase will not/ do not list an MSDS with product component information.

Some Turtle Wax products I also use, again, because Turtle Wax provides MSDS for all of their products.
