Side Marker Lights

Is there a way to have to front side marker light (amber one) blink with the turn signals?

For side marker light replacement, you have to remove the inner fender and front fender fairing, or the trunk side trim panel, then carefully push out the light from behind the fender or trunk.

I don't know the bulb type. All the manual says is 12V 21/5W

That's probably it. The manual specifies the same bulb for front turn signal/side marker/parking lights. I'm sure any auto parts store would have little problem identifying the bulb from the specs.

I've had my left rear marker light out because it works intermittantly. It appears to ba a sealed unit with l.e.d. bulbs. I'm going in for my "A" service next week. I'll have the dealer take a look at it then. It pops out rather easily once you pull back the trunk liner to get at it.

The side markers are made of an LED panel - they will outlast the car (and maybe me).

So when I RTFM, I will have to take it with a grain of salt. It said /side marker light/ but...

I am sure you are right, and it uses a sealed in LED. This is why the picture doesn't show a bulb anywhere near the Side Marker Light.

Thanks for everyones input. I am totally anal about electronics. Does anyone have step by step instructions of what to do? This information if helpful, but not being an electronics person, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Hey GunMetal, I know I'm severely late to the party (I'm researching Side Marker mods), but couldnt you just order a set of 2 Front Side Marker Assemblies and then install the new set in the back? Are the units the same size other than color?

I'll try and remember to check my service manual tonight, but feel free to slap me around if you dont hear anything before the weekend is out.

I think another member did try it. The front and rear side-marker covers are not the same size according to them.

I would like to replace the amber LED's in the front to a clear LED. I wonder if that is possible. (Just wanted it to match the clear front bulbs.

They are a sealed unit, 2 LED's on the front markers and 3 in the rears. If I was to do it all over again I would have wired it to blink - maybe have one of the LEDs on and the other blink.

Anyone ever check to see the cost of purchasing the front markers? I would recommend getting a set and experimenting. Once you get them the way you want, swap em out. That way you could always return to stock if need be.

To this day I still like the blue with WDP

Yes, I was one of the first to do the mod, they are a sealed unit, and pop out by depreasing the tabs on the inside of the fender.

If someone wants to host the photos, PM me your e-mail and I will send them. I had them linked to image station, but for some reason, they do not allow linking anymore.

Units are around $82, so if you disassemble them, you better be carefull. whole unit is replacable in one pc, no disassembly was designed in by Acrua/Honda

It is easy to make them blink. Biggest thing is the time, make your relay circuits first.

If you haven't done anything related with the LED panel, the dealer should replace it under warranty.

If you've modified it, the dealer may blame that your modification caused the LED to malfunction and void your warranty. If this is the case, it seems like a simple DIY fix.

Damn! Talk about reviving a long dead thread.

Anyway I just did this mod over the weekend and all I had to do was remove three screws and one plastic clip so I could pull the fender liner far enough back to get my hand up in there and pop the lights out. No need to remove the whole liner. This is for the front lights. The backs were much easier.

No, not the fender, just the liner under it. Remove just enough to be able to reach in and get to the side marker.
