Passenger Airbag Off?
Can anyone tell me how this works on this car? On my BMW 5 series, it would indicate "Passenger Side Airbag Off" until something more than 40 pounds was in the passenger seat.
On my TL, this light never comes on (except when starting up during the diagnostic phase), leading me to think that the Passenger Side Airbag is On all the time.
I read the following thread, but the posts were full of guesses and all over the map.

It's when you have something on the seat that weighs as much as a child or what have you. Try it out, put a few heavy books on the seat and it should light up.

OK. thanks. Sounds like it's like the BMW. Maybe 4-40 pounds and it will come on to indicate "Passenger Airbag Off". Otherwise it does not iluminate and it's "on". Thanks

Wait are we talking about "Passenger Airbag Off" or "SIDE AIRBAG OFF"? I believe these are two different lights. One should be inside the gauges and one should be somewhere else.

I had my wife gain a few pounds so it would stop coming on.....
Seriously, I too have yet to have my light come on. I did let my son ride up there once for a short distance around the block.. Maybe it is under 40lbs. Back to the manual.

Mine comes on if I have anything on the seat and rest my arm on the top of the seat back (which I tend to do when I'm alone) next to the headrest.
