Has anyone had their foreground cutoff shields trimmed or removed? Do you like it?

When I first got my TL, I was bothered by how the projectors didn't light the ground directly in front of the car. Turning the fog lights on helps a little, but I was wondering if anyone has had their foreground shields modified or removed and if you liked it or regretted the decision. Was there anything you didn't like after the modification?

I actually like the foreground limiter. It makes our projectors stand out from others, and it improves visibility in the far distance. If you don't sit too high in the driver's seat you won't even see it, or if you have HID foglights

How does it make our projectors stand out? If you don't see it, then it shouldn't affect your visibility right? =) When a BMW drives down the road, the ground is so bright. It has a commanding presence, but that's not the reason I'm interested in this mod. I just don't want to see that line in front of my car. It's like a black hole. It's not nearly as bad as when I drive around with H4656s, but I'd still like that gap filled.

Also, I'm not having my headlights opened up only for this mod. I just figured that since they're already opened, I'd get that taken care of.

It's been done before, but most likely not by anyone on Acurazine.

Why would you not remove it?

Thanks for the link. It looks like if it's removed, the high beam will be much higher and wider as well.

How does it not make it stand out? It's pretty obvious it's there (to everyone except the driver). I still see it a little when driving, just barely the edge of it though. Why do you want to light up the foreground anyways? It's an illusion to make you think a projector gives you good visibility. I have no problem outshining bmws all day with my setup

Are you saying our headlights' beam pattern looks special because the lower cutoff is farther away?

I want to light up a few more feet of the foreground because I like it that way. It shouldn't harm visibility because like you said, you can barely see the line, so basically, what I'd be seeing after the mod would be what you're seeing already =)

I retrofitted RL projectors into another vehicle, and they don't have a foreground shield, and I absolutely love their output.

Yes, exactly. It's a feature that only a couple projectors have....I like it

I'm not sure if you have a clear lens on your projector or not, but if you do, the foreground limiter line gets sharper too

Actually I am thinking about getting those ZKW replicas. Is there anything you don't like about the clear lenses? Does it just make the cutoff sharper, or is it any brighter or wider?

Not wider for sure. Sharper cutoff line and I think the amount of light passes through increases by a MARGINAL amount

^^^Do whatever George says. He's not great with shaving in the dark or selecting a high production milking cow...but he certainly knows all things lighting. Seriously.

^^^No way, man. Not if you do the 25 feet 25" top center (IIRC?) of the projectors and you have your sharpness spacers installed.
