few reasons, just redid the driveway and don't want to get anything on it + i'm getting old and didn't want to lay on the ground.
and they got it done in about 26 minutes.

You can't get under the car at 29? At that age you haven't even peaked yet physically unless you have a disability. So what you mean is you don't want to get under the car. That's not a bad price for a drain and fill. I've seen them charge triple that price.

Lol. I went through that phase. I worked on my cars out of necessity when I was younger and broke. Eventually, I started making decent money and paid people to work on them so I didn't have to. After a year or so I went back to working on my own cars for several reasons. I could see on a hot summer day taking it to the dealer for that price.

figures i'd do the thing that requires real work then take the stupid trans service to the dealer.
silly goose.

I have very little desire to get dirty and fight with my car these days. I have plenty of other things to occupy my free time. It really depends on how much I save by doing it myself vs. letting the dealer or a shop handle it. To save $20-30? Not a chance I am getting dirty and wasting an hour or two of my life. I will take it to a shop almost every time.
About the only items I will do myself are brakes and air filters. Just about everything else goes somewhere else to be done. So nice to pull up, hand my keys over, grab keys to the loaner and leave in less than 5 minutes.
It does help that I get free oil changes at my local dealer as well. Those usually take less than 30 minutes while I sit in their comfy lounge with my laptop playing on the web eating my free lunch. So far I have had pretty good experiences with my Acura dealer. I had to call them out on their price markups. I declined the repair and they immediately called me back with the parts at MSRP instead of MSRP+50%. The price you pay for comfy lounges and free loaner cars I guess.
I need to check out the Honda dealers in KC to see if they are priced as competitively as Hamilton. One of the Honda dealers is half the distance as my Acura dealer. My TB service is coming up sometime this year and need to figure out a plan for that one. Pretty sure my Acura dealer is going to be $1500+ for that one.

i know the sentiment. I did the tb job last weekend and I can easily see why people would pay someone to do it. Hamilton must have it down to a science to be able to charge under $400 for it.

Some are DIYers, some aren't. I do most of the small stuff myself but for those times you want the bigger jobs, Hamilton is THE place. They're quick, professional and most of all way more affordable. There are coupons if you search for them and if you make appt. in advance you can get a loaner.
I did the full timing belt service with tensioner, changed the spark plugs, tranny drain/fill, full valve adjustment, UR crank pulley installed/new belt, all in one shot for under $1k with tax. (Could have gotten free oil change, free tire rotation, free carwash.....passed on all that.) All this with the dealer's warranty. This was my car's first major maintenance service. Could have done a few of these items myself but meh. No second guessing, no fuss, no worries. Car is good for another 100k.

Am I missing something - I thought our cars required the 3X3 method for transmission service?
And BTW - I LOVE HAMILTON HONDA - did my timing belt service there over the winter - $497 OTD

My TL has 120k on it...I purchased it over 2 years ago at 96k, needless to say the TB was never done and it needs it. I'm in Pittsburgh but will be heading off to the beach in DE next week so I'm going to take a day and drive up to Hamilton being as though its only a 2 hour drive from me.
****My question is though, obviously you get the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, drive belt for their special price. Are they other things in addition I should have them replace while they have it? I'm also considering having them run diagnostics to determine what has been causing my faulty alarm. I'm pretty sure its a faulty door regulator somewhere. I appreciate any feedback on this, thank you guys so much.

Update...I just went to Hamilton this past Monday and had my timing belt/waterpump/spark plugs/valve adjustment all for just over a grand. I honestly think I overpaid for the spark plugs but it is what it is and its done now so.

Timing Bel Chirping noise after Hamilton Honda
06 TL, 6 speed, 104K miles. Just had the timing belt service done at Hamilton Honda couple of weeks ago. In addition replaced the tensioner, sparks plugs and valve adjustment. Paid a little over $1000.
I came home and noticed a chirping noise on the passenger side of the engine that wasn't there prior the Timing Belt service. Called them back and had a follow-up appointment scheduled. Went back and shortly after, the service rep along with the mechanic who worked on the car came out and said that the new engine noise was coming from one of the pulleys which had a very slight tilt and the fact that the new timing belt had very a stronger tension than my old belt. He showed me a TBS regarding this issue and stated that this will have no effect on the cars performance or the timing belt and that there is a chance that eventually this noise will go away on its own. So I went back home with the chirping noise still present. After spending over $1000 I feel that my engine should run smoothly and there should not be any noise, especially something that resulted from their repairs. What are your guys thoughts? The noise is bothering me and I do not feel very comfortable taking the mechanic's word that this will not have any adverse impact on my car down the road. What should I do?

Lev,
to be honest I though I was in a new car after the service. Adjusting the valves made it so quiet running and throotle was enough tough that made you feel the torque or let me say that the belt really turns now. Because we got no torque lol, welll, better than before

Get opinion and paper about it... don't make them fix it though
and you should've be like, I have other friends that just got the service done (mention the AZ) and say they have no problem and stuff...
make up things
well... true anyways
I say they couldn't adjust the timing belts.
Does it sound like a bus?

I’m very surprised that such a reputable dealer like Hamilton Honda would try to fix this problem right away. Instead they give me this bulls**t excuse that “it happens like 1% of the time when we do a timing belt job, but it will not have a bad impact on your car”. I’m not willing to take that risk and I am very upset that the engine sounds twice as bad before I spent a $1000 on the job … I’ll keep you updated on how and if Hamilton Honda resolves this issues. Not very happy right now tough ….
MEKO: come to think of your bus noise description, it kind of does sound like a bus (only on a lesser scale). I can only hear the noise when the car is in idle, and its only slightly noticeable when sitting inside the car. But very noticeable when standing by the engine ....

Go to a one way road that has parked cars on both sides.
Stop in the middle. That way you could hear the sound easily... if someother can't hear ir
Will not have a bad impact on the car?
How can you be sure when you can't even fix the sound.
Don't step back on these issues. That's what I saw in USA. These guys in services try every stupid thing to make you belive it.
Don't be polite to after they make excuses like this.
My dad got FX35 brand new last summer. Last month I took it to service, saying that the driver seat moves when you brake or accelerate.
They called me and saying that they tested brand new FX and has the gap also. It's normal. Seat moves on the brand new FX too.
Say this in Europe to a customer... I mean you can't it's impossible
and how stupid is to say that since you bought the FX new and seat wasn't moving for a year.
Then my dad went there. Don't ask what happend , everyone heard him and knows him now hahaha
what was their last words? Ok we'll order a new rack.
Now seat is perfect.
run after them,go back to Hamilton again and talk to big guys there, even throw the keys there like my dad did and say i can't drive this car like this
When he had Benz E320 he paid 18,000 for the service in one year. Whenever he drives in to the service, everyone is like here comes the trouble makes. Hi, hello, how are you blah blah welcome... everyone know him...
my dad's reaction is, "we became a friggin family with these guys" haha
