Smile Got a 2006 TL with 152k miles

Pro:
great exterior condition (few paint peel spot and scratches)
interior looks awesome except for a passenger side two dash crack lines (oddly parallel, can't be the airbag right?)

Con:
Last owner didn't keep maintenance records other than regular oil change and brakes.

Status:

Replaced four tires.

I just had transmission fluid changed (owner can't remember last time it was done) at a shop with OEM fluids (some shavings and dark color)

Got the belts/pump/tensioner/coolant changed at the shop (never been done before but damn hit my savings), mechanic said there's oil leak and the valve cover gaskets will have to changed ($400? deferred)

I did the power steering change over the weekend (was brown color), pump leaking ($300? deferred)

I got NGK spark plugs (thanks to the wisdom of crowd in the forum) and getting brake fluid/rotors/pads that will have to changed (vibration during braking only), but out of cash maybe in a month or two to take care of plugs/brake systems. Unless ya'll know reasonable and trustworthy shop in NoVA? I've been watching videos, might get the tools but the rear plugs seem painful.

Anything I should check/get done?

I'm hoping to tap into the experts in the forum next few months and bring on the crucial things back to good health. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you're off to a great start! Check the Problem/Fixes subthread for the busiest threads to see what are the 'common' issues.

there's a huge thread on here for DIY ps pump rebuild. it costs about 50 bucks and a few hours. do it yourself

rear plugs aren't bad at all. get a magnet based plug remover socket and some wobble extensions. you just take off strut bar and some brackets, it takes me about 5 minutes.

changing out brake fluid and replacing pads/rotors is very straightforward and you can do that yourself. like mentioned, there are lots of information on acurazine just use google search with acurazine at the end of your search terms

x2 on doing the power steering pump seals yourself. it's not difficult.

On the valvecover seal, i'd ask for a valve adjustment as well--but they may leave it overnight to let the engine cool.

Congrats on the find, I have a 2006 myself and it just hit 100,000 miles, right now the timing belt and transmission fluid/switches are due to be addressed very soon.

The first thing I immediately thought of reading your first post is the transmission fluid (which you changed) and the pressure switches, have you considered replacing those?
