Acura Transmission Miles to Engine Miles

Hey guys I'm new to this forum and stuff and not a big car guy...My brother has a 2001 Acura CL 3.2...He bought the car maybe a year ago....He had to replace the transmission on it and the transmission has maybe 70,000 to 90,000 miles on...The dashboard says 189,000 miles on it...Hows does the transmission relate to the engine miles..?...Is it good that the transmission has less miles on it..I'm not a car enthusiast or anything..So any info would be helpful..

i don't understand. you replaced the transmission with a used transmission that had 70-90k already on it ?
or did you have to replace a transmission in your car that had 70-90k on it ?

1st.. doesn't make sense
2nd.. means that the car already had a transmission failure and was replaced once already, making this (at least) the 2nd transmission

I still don't get it. What do you want to know exactly? Is the car better to have a low mileage tranny with high OD miles? Of course, but there's no way to tell if the tranny is going to die again. It's a good bet though. The car has many miles so you may want to dump the car.

i understand what you were trying to say.

because there are 70,000 - 90,000 miles on the transmission and 190k on the car that means that the transmission now in the car was replaced somtime between 100,000-120,000. now with another 90,000 miles on the transmission that is in now you are probly going to need a new one very soon.

my opinion : try to sell it before you need a new transmission again because youre not covered under warenty anymore and replacing the trasmission would cost more than its worth to hold on to a car with close to 200k miles.

No no...It was replaced when the OD was at about 170k..The tranny was replaced like last year I think..I just wanted to know if the car will be good..The transmission probably only has about 80k because I'm not sure what it had it may have had 70-90k so it hasn't gotten alot of miles put on it since it was put in..

Ok my brother bought the car like last year I think..He only payed about $6500 for it...The transmission was slipping so he got a used or rebuilt 1 and they said the transmission only had 70-90k miles on(I can't remember)....The OD as of now has 189k...The transmission that was just put in can't have any more than 3k on it...I'm going to buy the car for $3000 because he owes me money...I want to know if it is a good deal and stuff...I drive the car everyday and it drives very good..I'm going to keep this car for a year or less probably...
