G-100: DIY LED Interior Conversion, Part V: Cluster Console (EASIEST OF THE BUNCH!)

Ok, now, just to let you guys know, if you're apprehensive about this whole 'LED Thing', well, have no fear...this is where to start. This is seriously easy. Like Geico easy.

Thanks go to dwb993 for specifying the exact bulb to use.

LET'S GO!

TOOLS NEEDED

Flat head screwdriver

MATERIALS

4 x 3mm bulb to your liking...I am used wide-angle flat headed 3mm bulbs
Solder
FLUX, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH
4 x 560-ohm resistors

TIME
Plug-and-play method - 30minutes

STEP I - NO TOOLS NEEDED
My God, this is so easy it's insane. Lower your steering column all the way, grab from the bottom, and pull up. You suck at life if you can't do this. Seriously.

STEP II - POP GOES THE...
Pop four out, modify, and put 'em in. Yep, that friggin' simple. Follow the link above for how to prep the bayonet bases, and you're done. As always, I've made this niiiice and simple for you by noting the polarity of the bulbs...so seriously...what are ya waitin' for?!

Yep! I am going with a combination of blue/white throughout to give it some tasteful contrast. Seriously, modding this part is SO friggin' simple, not to mention it costs all of like, what less then $1 to do?

Lemme know if you have any questions! GL!

I was looking at this in my car today and realized that these buttons aren't lit up. Are they not lit up in an 04 or are just both the bulbs burnt out?

Awesome! The door handle ones are pretty simple, you'll love the look! I am going to try and get to the passenger side door this weekend.

Hey, if you get the chance, can you snap some pics of the switch when you have it open? I want to see what type of LEDs the amber indicator light is, although I have strong suspicion they are PLCC-2s...

this one is definitly the easiest of them all and it really looks nice when its done. i did all 4 blur first then proceeded with my LED conversion and then saw myself using alot of blue and white combos like deathmetal is doing and ended up redoing this with two white bulbs on top and two blue on the bottom. This look went great with my steering wheel LEDs being white for the cruise and mode button and the rest of the wheel being blue. i shoulda just taken deathmetals advice in the first place on this one lol

Updgrade your white resistor to 1k...I need to update the thread. They WILL burn out at anything under 1k.

GJ, dude

UPDATE: NOTE FOR THOSE USING WHITE LEDS

I hate to bump all of the threads, but there is an important item that needs to be noted; some of the white LEDs have been burning out, which can be attributed to one thing and one thing only: thermal overload. Therefore,

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT A 1K-OHM RESISTOR BE USED FOR ALL WHITE LEDS.

I have begun the process of replacing LEDs/resistors for the dearly-departed and can state that the new resistors seem to do the trick.

Yeah man... all of your lovely LED DIYs are in shambles now. I'm glad I completed most of them prior to Photobucket bending everyone over. What a scam.

Yeah. That's a straight kick to the dick. Especially considering how I know so many users have used DIYs such as the coil over install to help their efforts.

I'm closing on a new house in 3 weeks, I don't even know when the hell I could get around to this
