Custom License Plates?

Was ordering plates for my car and I found out that "UA7" was available after many times trying to find a TL/TypeS/TL-S/07 combination.

So what are your guys' thoughts. "UA7" Wack or cool?

How much does it cost to get a custom plate in your state?

I remember in TX it was stupid expensive for a custom plate. I bought mine from Kansas and it only cost $40.
Went through 3RD GEN, 3G-S, ONLY3G, MADVTAK, VTEC YO.

I'm not really a fan of custom plates, but I do like specialty ones which my state has a lot of. Even though I'm not a huge White Sox fan, I got the IL sox plates. Reason being is the plate is all black and it looks pretty cool especially on a Type s.

I'm in California and I was looking at specialty plates, namely the veteran one. It was $48 I believe for the sequential one and $75 for the specialized one. I ended up jumping on UA7.

My only gripe about a plate that says just UA7 is that 99.2% of people would have no clue that's even a custom plate. UA7 isn't even a cool combination of letters/numbers so that one doesn't get my vote. I still say find a cool specialty plate that matches the color of your car and go with that.

I agree. I think custom plates should be something clever or funny. Even if it's something not obvious for everyone.

UA7 is blah too plain not original. Same goes for NBP UA7 and so on. Very un original if that's a word.

I seen a picture of a BMW m3 owner and his plates was GAM3OVR.

Here in Texas the cheapest specialty plate is $55/year but that's with computer generated license plate number. You get to choose a custom plate design though
Now that's clever

Here is a picture of my all black specialty Sox plate here in IL. Like I said I can careless about the Sox, but an all black plate matches the Type S accents very nicely. I could have even gotten custom letters/numbers on this one, but I couldn't think of anything clever and it cost more anyway. It was the color of the plate that was most important to me anyway. That black plate is currently on the MRP Type S since the CBP one sold (rear plate only). Looks pretty cool on the red car.

Specialty plates (i.e. retired military) in Colorado are only an initial $25 for the plate, annual renewal is the same as for regular plates. Vanity plates are the same, $25 initially and normal annual renewal.

Vanity plates are a one time $20 fee in PA...all my other cars have had them, I just can't think of anything I want on the TL or I'd have done it already.

Well the specialty plates here in Arizona are kinda fugly. I got the UA7 plate as more of a nod to TL enthusiast and forum members than anything. There are worse combinations of letters and numbers out there. You don't want to overdo it with your custom plate, some people can come off as douchey. I saw a guy that had "1ILLTL" I believe. I don't think I would go that far. What if my TL is the "illest"? lol Just keep it simple I guess
