Brembo calipers for the rear
Im new to the TL cpmmunity and to the Acurazine forum so correct me or redirect me if this is something that had been discussed before.
I recently bought a 07 TL-S 6MT. The front has the Brembo style caliper but the rear does not and to me it looks a little goofy. This is nothing more than a cosmetic thing, i know. Most of the stopping power is in the front anyway and im pretty sure Acura would have put one in the rear if necessry. My questions are:
1) Does anybody know if there is a company that makes a aftermarket kit for the rear?
2) Would it it be possible to retro fit a kit for a S2000 or a 04 G35 with the Brembos or another vehicle?
3) Should i just suck it up, stop being an OCD a-hole and deal with it?

Bottom line, suck it up unless you have the time or money to replace the rear brake calipers.
If you reaplce the stck rear calipers with Brembos, you'd have to get different mounting brackets, among other parts, to get it to work, and you'd probably upset the braking distribution forces from the master cylinder.
Aftermarket kits are out there, but they're expensive.

One of the cheapest options is to get the RDX caliper covers for the rear. Go to google and search for" RDX caliper covers AcuraZine 3GTL" for the relevant threads on that topic.
Our vendors Excelerate and Mr.Heeltoe have brake packages already put together using high quality parts. Check their respective websites for deals. I've used Brakemotive. I'll just say, you get what you pay for.

i would say stay away from brakemotive i've heard more good than bad. i have stoptech slotted rotors with akebono ceramic performance pads. they stop great and they have almost zero (!) dust. this is the best brake setup i've ever had. i also have ss brake lines but those aren't necessary
and forget about doing a rear bbk...waaayy too much time and effort

you could possibly take from the G35, however, braking bias would be screwed up and you would have to play around with valving to fix the issues.
also, by replacing the stock set you'll be removing the brake drum in the rear, making the parking brake useless.

Unless you either 1) know TLs or 2) get up real close you will certainly be fooled. Especially when they are paint matched nicely to the real brembos up front.
BTW when I fixed my brakes a couple weeks ago I replaced a rear caliper entirely. And it came black. I don't remember that from anywhere.

my rears were rusty as hell...only a year old advance auto parts ones...
I mulled it over for a long time.
I don't like the bright big front brembo with nothing on back
I don't like the rdx cover painted some other color with no writing
I definitely don't like the rdx cover painted WITH some writing
It's cheesy, it's fake...it's faux. But it looks good IMO.

I hope you know I'm just teasing. It's not the same as putting fake brembos on all four corners of a Civic. If I had gone with any other color than stock black on my brembos I'd probably would have at least considered the fakes myself.

If I had all base regular rotors...no brainer...keep em stock black rdx covers like Austin did. Or just black period...like I did on the S (I ALSO am not a huge fan of colored calipers on NON bbk)...
I tried the rdx with no words in teal originally...I'd have to dig for a picture...but it looked like a big wtfbbq teal rectangle that didn't belong. I could have put some clever vinyl on it like #cambergang #yourgirllikesmycar or something...but that's not my style.

RDX covers only look good if you left the front black with "Acura" on it...but if your clear coat failed, you probably had to refinish, and most people won't go to the trouble for the exact same look.
I had brakemotive...they were a killer deal with pads and rotors. They looked cool...but they warped...they were extremely annoying stopping from high speed. In addition, they had a weird annoying noise to them too!

I mean I've got Brembo calipers up front labeled Brembo and I've got Acura (well Nissin or whatever, let's not split hairs) rear calipers with Acura covers. I don't see anything wrong with that. Although I left them black so they don't really draw attention. If they were bright orange or something I may feel differently.
At the very least there's no false advertising.

I looked into doing the rear 2-piston brembo caliper conversion. There are so many problems with it. Getting a rotor that's the correct diameter with the correct height with the correct drum diameter.
But the main problem that it boils down to is this.....FWD doesn't need it. The 2 piston GT caliper is meant to be used with a ventilated rotor. FWD cars do not have ventilated rear rotors. They use solid rear rotors because even extreme duty does not put very much heat into them.
Using such a wide caliper with such a thin rotor will likely cause major issues as pads wear (if it will even grip to begin with).....Even if you can get the caliper spacing centered on the rotor with the correct radial height.

I did this to mine shortly after getting my car in 2005. Held up really well. G2 caliper paint and simple vinyl decal. The key is the calipers need to be "you can eat off of them" clean. Getting them that clean takes about 10x the time to paint them.
It may look goofy to some but it's better than stock IMO. Photos are from 2008 but they still look the same today.
