Ok, so I'm a little peeved right now but thankfull the car didn't give in.

Someone attempted to break-in my car via the sunroof today. Thankfully nothing else was damaged but the rubber seal around the sunroof and where the rear glass and trunk meet.

Any idea if this "seal" is replaceable? It looks like it comes right out. I think I'd have to remove the sunroof to fix it too.

Picture of damage

Are you sure it was a attempted break in?

I remember seeing a member here who has a bunch of birds perched on his car and pecked at it and his rubber trim looked EXACTLY like that

What the..... The damage looks the same. If I didn't see pics then I wouldn't believe it. OP if there is no other damage except for the rubber seal, I would say it's the same thing. Did you see any scratches on the paint?

the sunroof seal is definitely available at any dealer, but the rear window seal is the tough one, since i dont think theres a part number for it

I think it's safe to assume that the OP wouldn't think it was a thief if this damage happened over time, and wear of that fashion doesn't happen over night.

A bird/animal was eating at it.

Thanks, got a friend who works at an Acura dealer getting me the part. The hard part is going to be replacing it.

No scratches that I can tell. Too much wax

Time to buy a car cover
Nah, she's getting older (like me) 04' TL 6-speed (base) with just over 135K

If it was wear, then why is the rubber seal still all plyable? It was fine when I parked it in the morning, came out of work and arrived to little bits of rubber over the car and ground. It did rain wicked hard, so I first thought hail damage but no new dents or scraches I could find.

i see alfred hitchcock is back filming his sequel.

OP, i don't even think that seal is replaceable. i mean, think about it. how would it be? it's fused onto the sunroof glass.

i had to buy a whole new sunroof glass piece for mine. i don't see how it's possible to replace just the rubber stripping.

oh yeah, post up one of those wal mart fake owls near your car. owls are badass...and the birds will be afraid of it.

The reason I suggested it was because it would be a shame if you did all the work to replace those seals, then the birds to it again

I have one next to my front door and the car is parked a few feet away. No bird attacks yet. In the past I had birds under the hood of a different car. So I guess the owl works, so does my elephant repellent.

Turns out that it IS and WAS replaceable. Thanks to the part #70205-sep-a01

Just need to take out 4 T-20 screws and out comes the sunroof glass, then just reverse the process.

Check it out (next post)
