6spd reverse lock out solenoid replacement

Hey guys I have searched and searched and haven’t found what I’m looking for ...I assume it’s because people call this part different things .

My 2004 6spd manual won’t go into reverse only sometimes ...I am pretty sure it’s the reverse lockout solenoid , or selector lock solenoid .

It looks fairly easy to do myself just looking to see if anybody has done a how to or has any pointers .

Could it be the box internals? I don't even think I have one of those, since I actually engaged reverse a few times while moving forward (and I'm not talking parking lot moving either, rather highway cruising speed).

Yes we definitely have one , it’s for times exactly like you explained ...after 9 mph the reverse lockout engages so you don’t accidentally put it in reverse when you want 6th .

mine is malfunctioning because I can feel it’s almost like a wall gets put up in front of reverse and you cannot engage it ...it happens only sometimes and it’s hard to believe nobody else has experienced this...I thought I would see a ton of hits when I searched this.

I took a look at my box, I actually have one)) it's just that my ECU is a Honda Inspire Type-S one (those only came in automatic), so it's disconnected. Wonder if I can get it functioning...

6spd reverse lock out solenoid replacement

I'm having same issues as theatriks describes whereby there is just no way the vehicle is going into reverse on occasion. This on a 2006 TL with 78k on it. The fact that it would be locked out by this possibly malfunctioning solenoid makes sense. I'm realizing that this must be incredibly rare as two Acura and one Honda service advisors I've spoken to of late have never heard of this problem and could not even guess as to what part may be faulty. It was a parts guy at Acura that mentioned this solenoid may be the problem byt he doesn't think his dealership has ever sold one. Has anybody tried this fix?
