3G TL's with AV6; impressions?
Tranny is blown.
1. Has anyone done the 06-07 AV6 swap on a 3g TL? A mechanic told me its exactly the same, no difference between the two trans. Is this true or should I convince him to do the AV6 swap anyways?
2. Will a 07 base 5at trans fit into an 06 base 5at?

There are 5-6 other threads from the past several weeks discussing the AV6 swap. Increase the search time and I'm sure you will find gobs and gobs of details on this.
1.) Yes, people have.
2.) No 07 TL trans will not swap into an 06 TL.

The AV6 transmission is supposed to have better internals.
I went with a rebuilt TL transmission the shop had already rebuilt at an earlier date and was sitting on the shelf. Cost $1600 all said and done and my car was back on the road.
If I were to do it again, I would source an AV6 transmission off car-part and tell the same shop to swap that in or do a manual swap.

Even using the built-in search, plenty of results within the 3rd gen forums as well. I don't remember all of the details of the swap since I have no leg in the game with owning a MT.

If I remember correctly the only thing you will have to swap over from your old AT is the AT range switch. BTW if you swap the AT I would recommend use new torque converter.
