2004-08 Acura TL NSX-Style Tail Lights

I generally like to encourage new modifications. In fact, I like the idea that Depo tried to incorporate something cool like the NSX. However, I'm not so sure I like these. What do you all think? Nice or rice?

The concept is kind of interesting, but I can't tell if I would actually like them due to the low res pictures on the website and no available videos. For the price they're asking for them, you would think that they would put a little more effort into the presentation.

I think they look horrible. Lot of young people on IG like them. To each their own!

Depends on your taste. Personally half the reason I got the TL was the headlight/taillight appearance. Those separated horizontal beams just do it for me, and the 3x color front when you have CRIs in the main, incandescent color in DRL, and the yellow deflector.

It does look smooth, but unless i'm putting a curved wing on the back to carry that curvature across the back of the car, it'd just end up looking like a Civic to me. I'd rather retrofit the current lights with sequentials than this, but that's my personal taste for linear. Some people like curves. If I liked curves, I'd own a 350z.

I am glad there's an aftermarket option however, especially from Depo as that means there's a good chance of more adaptations as they rarely make one type of light for a car and swap molds/parts to offer other things.

They're different, that's for sure. I've got better things to spend $300+ on.

How have those headlights held up btw? I bought my TL a few months ago so I'm still trying to decide what direction I want to go with it.

The headlights are still great, razor sharp cutoffs and unique styling to boot. These new rear tails will be just as unique and hopefully just as cool.

I was behind a 9th gen Civic today and I would have to agree with your statement lol. I could possibly see these lights looking good with a CSL styled spoiler.

For everyone who wants to see how they actually look, here is a video mini review.

I'm not really feeling them.

I think I would prefer to have tail lights and brake lights in that V shape, and turn signal in the middle and amber / yellow.
I hate when cars share same lights for brake / turn signals.

Dear god....motion sickness like a mofo and I was only 2min into the video. I didn't see why they were cutting the taillights?

It makes it easier to switch them out without having to remove the bumper

I'd rather have the '07/'08 Type-S tail lights with the turn signal portion cleared out so I could use amber bulbs.

My 2¢

I initially liked the look of these, but it seems like there isn't enough brake light if that makes sense. Seems like only a small portion lights up when the brakes are activated. If the outer bar lit up as well when braking, I might consider them.

Not a huge fan, mainly due to the "c" parking lighting area. It looks so plain and lacks complexity the OEM tail lights have. They got lazy with the design and just put red plastic over the area and some LEDs behind it..
With a revised "c" area that looks somewhat like the real NSX lights, I'd probably change my mind.

quick photoshop of how plain it looks on NSX:

They're installed now so here's some night time pics:

Some thoughts:

The lights may come across as orang-y in some pics but they are a deep red.

The leds also may come across as individually distinguishable, but in reality they are evenly and smoothly lit.

Being from Depo, the fit is perfect and easy with the exception of a bumper removal. I didn't elect to cut the bottom legs to not have to pull the bumper, but that's just my choice.

I didn't stick on those goofy external reflectors...I don't know what they expect people to do with those

The middle brake/blinker lights are plenty bright and I don't mind that they are integrated together...that's how my C5 does it too.

In the end, these lights look really nice lit up at night and they're definite keepers for me.

Meh, I don't like how the number of brake lights is less than OEM. Hard pass for me.

They look kinda cool, I just don't get why they didn't make the big red area the brake light. Seems like a lot of wasted space.

cant put my finger on it, but something about their design is off and doesn't flow with the rest if the car.

they also look cheap imo

they look cool at night, but they are tinted too dark overall. The daytime pick makes it a deal breaker

So these lights only brake in center and signal. The outer red portion are only on for parking lights. Lot of people disliked this but this is how the NSX is designed but felt like kinda of a setback.

i rewired mine to dim the parking lights and return to full brightness when brakes are applied.

used a 300ohm resistor to dim the parking light and a relay to pass braking power to the rest of tail light. the parking lights themselves at 100% brightness are still too dim to be used as brake lights in the day but at night it looks fine.
