'04 TL Base - P/S fluid reservoir gel material

Im taking out my R&P to replace the seals and after draining the fluid from the reservoir and P/S system, i notice some gelatinous material in the bottom of the reservoir. I did a google search and didnt find anything remotely related to this. Mind you this car was a freebie from my B-I-L and i have no knowledge of the history on the car. All I get is "I don't know" every time I ask any maintenance history questions. Anyhow I digress.

Back to the gel. Is the gel possibly related to mixing different types of P/S fluids or would it be some space age filtering material Honda has come up with?

If needed will order new reservoir from Delray...

Well, i just looked at two TL power steering reservoirs and an aftermarket one at Autozone, and all three had the gelatinous stuff in the bottom. So it seems to be some type of filtering, IDK, im a honda/acura newb..

... yeah no they should be empty.. Are you sure there's a gel at the bottom and it's not just the texture of the bottom of the plastic? Just take it out and spray it down

The new one has the same thing. "Gelatinous" is kinda misleading. Its more like a soft clear rubber.

It seems like a baffle or separator between the supply and return ports. Honestly, it was the first time I'd seen that. Im going to cut open the old reservoir after I clean it and post some pics. Maybe over the weekend.
Amazing the silly shit that intrigues me.
