04 Foglight

Anybody have more information on the 2004 TL's foglight ? Is it yellow ? If not then what is the purpose of having a white foglight ? Yellow works best in the fog.

SO I dont get it, since the foglight is integrated in the headlight what is the purpose of it, is it just another halogen light next to the HID that always stays on? Wouldn't it be more blurring to other drivers?

Foglights are yellow, driving lights are white.

Even though it comes out of the factory white, I'll hopefully have a yellow bulb in there quickly!

Doubt it. I am sure there is a switch somewhere.

On my 96 Maxima SE-5MT, it was on the turn signal stalk.

I've seen nothing to indicate that the 04TL even has driving or fog lights. If it does and there anything like the one's on the current TL's they're worthless anyway. The 04 has projector beam lows like the TSX and it also has Xenon high beams.

HID (HIGH-INTENSITY DISCHARGE) HEADLIGHTS
Previously, the TL had HID (High-Intensity Discharge) low beams coupled with conventional halogen high beams. The new TL headlights feature HID high and low beams, as well as built-in fog lamps. These bi-function HID high/low beams are made possible by a shutter device that mechanically controls the light output of the HID unit. When the driver selects high beam, an electric solenoid in the headlight moves a shutter forward, opening up a greater reflector area inside the headlight. When the lights are operated on low beam, this shutter repositions to act as a cut-off to keep the lighted area closer to the vehicle.

The fog/driving lights are square, next to the headlights.

HUH?

The car is in production for sure, there are many pre-orders already, theres only 30 days left until it goes to sell, and most dealers ride and drive are in the next week or weeks to follow..

Now how do you say a car that is not produced yet..

Also HiD Fogs would be So Illegal, its not even funny, I would love to have them, but some people get pulled over for Stock HiD on Headlights, imagine with Fogs..

Nope, HID fogs are legal......the MB E I heard will eventually employ tri-xenon technology (hi, low, fog). plus, you can buy them aftermarket from PIAA, but they're like ridiculously priced.

What makes HID foglights illegal is that you need the correct foglight housing for it. A projector or reflector built only for HID. If you notice how some people in their honda accords have HID headlights, you will see too much glare, that's because their headlight housing was never meant to be used with Xenon bulbs.

People get pulled over for stock HIDs because they have aftermarket bulbs or the lights are aimed too high. Yes fog HIDs in TL 02-03 models are illegal because of what I mentioned above.

Ya I know what you mean, I guess if the FOGS are aimed correctly and are suited for HID's than it will not bother people, but it would be expensive like someone else said..

FOG lights are suppose to be yellow, because it works better in the fog. Yellow is less reflective than white. So if you have a HID fog light that is white it will reflect back at you (glare). To prove it drive in a fog and use the high beam and the low beam, which one allows you to see further, I bet the lows will. Even better drive in the fog with a true fog lamp (yellow) you will see even further.

The Bi-Xenon high/low beam is misleading, it's basically one HID kit, but the bulb cover moves up and down to emulate high/low. THe good thing about this is that it means that the car has autolamp leveler like lexus has.

I think you are mistaken, it is not autolamp leveler..

I think its a better way to have the luxury of HI/LOW Xenon lights with only 2 bulbs.. You save money if one bulb goes out...

I know how it works, your wording was confusing.

As far as I know, there has never been a car with xenon hi-beams that did not have one bulb for both hi/low.
