I was thinking about the lack of TSB for the RLX, so I googled it and this is what popped out....
Shouldn't we have a folder with these in it so we can keep abreast of whats going on????

Looking at these TSB's, wonder how long it takes to show up from the release date?
Also the summary's seem a little lacking in subject matter, some of them I can't tell what the problem is associated to a specific part or system/subsystem. They almost read like a "Note"??


Maybe it's me???

 

I was thinking the same thing victor. the majority of those are sharing the same vague summary, while a few are more specific on the issue.

well well well....not only is the suspension "groaning" sound issue that several of us mentioned before listed here, but the annoying "A/C moan" that I've experienced for quite some time now is on here as well! I'd been meaning to post about it, but honestly thought I was maybe being very particular about this and it's just how it should be. Really great to see this one listed here.

Calling my Service Center tomorrow and getting her in for these ASAP!!

Is it a bad assumption to assume a car sold well after TSB date has been fixed

 

^^ Yep....The 2009 TL developed an annoying "tick tick" in the sunroof and even my 2012 had that problem when it bought eventhough the TSB had been issued. It is sometime easier for the brand to allow their dealers to fix locally for those who will complain rather than retooling the assembly line.

 

I was thinking of the Dealer fixing it. For example, the TSB on the rear suspensions specifically says for Dealer to fix before selling.

 

^^ Oh my bad. After re-reading your post, now I get what you are asking. I would think that the dealers would address some TSB before selling the vehicle. I think it will depend on the nature of the TSX....Acura may not pay the dealers for the repairs unless the customer complains about the issue as its not a guarantee that all vehicles would be affected by the TSB. If its a safety issue, the recall would be issued and then all car on the lot would have to be fixed prior to being sold.

This is purely my view though.....

 

yea, I think the suspension recall TSB was a much bigger issue with far more safety concerns behind it than the lesser "cosmetic" and "functionality" TSB's. so I would agree that issues like that should definitely be addressed by the dealer before the cars leave the lot.

getakey, if you haven't already asked, I would just double-check with your dealer to make sure they took care of this before your car was sold. it's been a few months now that this recall has been out, but obviously impossible to guarantee that every dealer made it a focus point to get every car taken care of.

 

Yes, you're right about that one. The dealers were required to install the kit before the cars left their possession, up to a known chassis number.

This was beyond the normal TSB. While nobody was hurt, they could tell that it was a potentially serious issue, and Acura took it seriously.

Once they could be sure that they had the kits in stock, to the best of their ability they began notifying purchasers to come back to have the bolt kit installed.

The user here who took pictures of his car after experiencing the failure helped speed up the process. The imagery created an obviously urgent move.

The usual feeling about a "TSB" is not the urgent feeling created by a recall. This silly "injection fan" thing is something I have discussed with my dealer service department, but it doesn't impart any feeling that I really need to fix it, and they're not going to volunteer to fix it unless I complain about it. In my case, it's such a very slight whine that I'm usually not hearing it because of the audio system or a Bluetooth phone call. :-)

^^ Wow! This is exactly the issue I was reporting on this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-rlx-2013-412/more-noise-developments-908951/ where I posted the audio recordings.

What's even crazier is the diagram showing the location of the issue on page 3 of the TSB is exactly where I was poking my head around in when I had the hood open one evening trying to source where the sound was coming from.

Getting this one included in my next oil/maintenance visit!! Woot!

 

Mods can delete this TSB. The TSB number was revised after initial release and is now used for the 2015 TLX: TQI of the Navigation System.

Acura Recalls 43,000 Vehicles

Acura says it is recalling 43,000 vehicles in the U.S. to replace both front seat belts.

The car maker owned by Honda Motor Co says that in temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, the seat belts might not release. Acura says no injuries have been reported related to the seat belts.

The recall announced Saturday covers 7,000 2014 RLX and 36,000 2014 and 2015 MDX models.

Acura says it will begin mailing notices to vehicle owners in late October, and they should take their vehicle to an authorized dealer as quickly as possible. Acura says owners can also check if their vehicle is covered by going to recalls.acura.com.
