The RLX optional spare tire?

I have new 2016 RLX and of course it does have the spare tire. I see that Acura/Honda offer a slip in spare the will fit the trunk compartment with minimal disruption to the existing well. The dealer has no problem supplying the kit and wheel for this conversion but he says Honda is only showing one tire in the whole US, for this option. The size is 155/70/17. ($265.95). Any thought on other similar sizes or is this a waste of money and time?

I would get the spare tire kit.

I just stumbled on a price from my dealer for the complete setup. kit, wheel and tire installed for $425. I'm going to do it next week.

I purchased the spare kit for my 2015 from Bernardi Parts OEM Acura Automotive Parts & Accessories - Bernardi Parts
and it cost me around $350 including shipping.
I believe the part numbers are the the same for the 2016's also.

Follow pgeorg's instructions and save yourself some money. The kit is easy to install in the PAWS, and you can do it yourself. Alternately, ask your dealer if they'll price match with Bernardi or another online dealer.
