RLX= eSHAWD only in Canada

Sorry if this is old news. Has anyone else noticed that the RLX is now hybrid only in Canada as of 2016? Here is the page and a pic.

The 2016 Acura RLX | Sport Hybrid | Acura Canada

I suppose that if they are selling so few RLX's in Canada, they might as well sell the ones that everyone wants and the model that best serves our northern climate. I do recall the Sales Manager that I deal with mentioning that they were having "a very hard time" selling the PAWS version and that massive discounts were necessary to move them.

It is nice of Acura Canada to maintain the pricing of the RLX in spite of the Canadian dollar taking a nose dive lately. That Tech Sport Hybrid pictured above is available brand new without a discount for the equivalent of $45000 USD.

The graphite luster model shown at the top of the page has the SHAWD badge on the rear and Hybrid badge on the front wings, but the wrong wheels for the SH. Must have just photoshopped a PAWS model....

Does it make sense for Americans to buy the RLX AWD from Canada? As mentioned above, the RLX AWD Tech is equivalent to USD$45k, and the Elite (Advance in USA) is USD$49k.

I know there is a problem getting warranty work done on US models in Canada...so I would assume the same problem may exist with Canadian models in the US.

I'm not sure there's going to be enough of them around to make it any easier to get a Canadian SH-AWD.

I know that a number of us bought Canadian DC 2 ITR just to be able to get a CW car in 1999, or when they came back to the US in 2000 and they didn't want FBP or PY.

Everything worked out well for them, but that was of course over fifteen years ago.

My bro-in-law bought a silver hybrid AWD RLX in Canada. He has waited 9 months for the car.

Go figure about the limited availability of the hybrid RLX.

The last time I talked to the Sales Manager I deal with, I was told that the last Sport Hybrid RLX was sold for "a couple of thousand" off MSRP.

I think that there are just so few of them around that big discounts are not necessary.

Not much, because the car had to be ordered directly from the factory.

But if it was a car that was ordered by the dealership and had been sitting in the storage lot collecting dust, then it would have make a hell of a difference.

Unlike with the previous RL, Acura has learned with the RL-class to control inventory. The RLX Sport Hybrid is also not plentiful in the U.S. It's selling at 1G NSX numbers.
