The prospective from the passenger seat......
I got to have a unique experience today. I'm on vacation and RLX-Hybrid lives not too far one stop I am making in Westchester Cty. He stopped by and he took me for a ride in the BlacKbird.
It was an interesting experience sitting in the passenger seat being able to pay more attention to how the SH performed without the "distraction" of driving. I could get a better sense of the quietness and smoothness than when I am driving. Also, RLX did a nice job of demonstrating all of the cars acceleration and handling. It is a somewhat different feeling not being the one controlling the car but simply sitting back and experiencing the ride. Feeling the full power from the passenger seat was much different than feeling it when it is you putting your foot down. Seems even faster from the passenger seat. What a blast. I have a different prospective now that I have sat in the passenger seat with another beta tester driving.
Thank you RLX-Hybrid!!!! Enjoyed the meet and the ride.

Did we have a harmonic convergence of the sun, moon and some dumb star?
I mean, two SH owners, from different coasts of the continent, coming together in one SH?
What are the odds?

Just dumb luck......
I was strange having another beta demonstrating to me the unique attributes of the Sport Hybrid. Sitting in the passenger seat was a different experience. Made me appreciate the car in a different way. It was a special time being in the presence of another beta!!!

Just this morning I was driving on I-684 going south from northern Westchester County towards the airport and typically cars are pacing in the 80-85 mph range and in close quarters too. This morning was a little unusual as 3 lanes of traffic were all cruising in a well orchestrated pattern with little lane changes by anyone at a consistent 90 mph (+/-). It was a little unnerving as many people don't appreciate just how bad things can get and how quickly it can happen at those speeds if one person sneezes, but the serenity of the ride at those speeds was phenomenal. Even in eco mode, just speeding up to move into the next lane was fantastic, without requiring a gear step down, just riding the torque wave. I needed to remind myself that I was already going 90 mph so twice I forced myself to back off at 100+mph, to slow back to the pace of the herd. I made great time for sure, but I was thinking about how less connected others must have felt on the same road at the same time at the same speed. I felt 100% in control and could adapt to anything, while others I'm sure were not. We are very fortunate to be able to enjoy such a luxury.
I noticed also a VW Phaeton W12 and thought that it just looks like a bloated Passat and not the Audi A8 replica it was based on. A moment later an A8L appeared and I appreciated the differences immediately. An orange Lexus RC-F pulled up behind me (remember traffic was running at 90+ mph for this stretch of highway), and thought about the test drive I had not to long ago in that car. The exhaust note was a little snarky as it passed me and the car looks great in the rear view mirror, but my driving impressions left me disappointed. Maybe the GS-F will be different (Malibu, you and I talked about that).
Just about then we all passed the Westchester County Airport exit, and a cop appeared so as one we all slowed to around 70 mph. How pedestrian as at that speed it felt absurdly slow, almost a walking pace. It was fun while it lasted, but the police have a fun way of bringing us adults back to reality.
Mailbu, when we see each other again sometime, I want the experience you had and get a passenger's perspective of our cars. Next year when you come back this way, lets go for a longer drive on other roads than we traveled on.
Happy motoring and please extend a sincere thank you to your wife for "letting" us hang out for a while. Two car maniacs in the Blackbird!
p.s. I washed it again this morning. I could not help myself.

Now I'm jealous. First, because I want to ride shotgun with someone else who knows how to drive the SH-AWD and see what Malibu is talking about. But second, because I have yet to try a serious, first-gear start, flat out 0-60 acceleration. Not for lack of trying, I just cannot find a straightaway near me with no traffic, where I can stop and then let it go without it being a damned speed trap. Even in ME, where I am now, there are few straight roads and those seem to be magnets for speed traps. I'm coming your way soon, RLX! You could run a wash 'n ride clinic.

Sport Hybrid meet #2.....
RLX-Sport Hybrid needs to start the official North American RLXSH Club.
In fact, Acura needs to hire him as their one-man marketing tool.
If I'm in the NYC area, I'll look you up!

I'd be glad to take your car through the paces while you sit in the passenger seat. You just notice more about the car because you don't have the distraction of driving and since someone else has dropped into Sport mode and put the hammer down (well done by the way RLX ) you don't antIcipate the acceleration.
It is an experience only a beta would pay any attention to. Anyone who has the SH appreciates the driving dynamics of the car or they wouldn't have been smitten with the test drive and laid down some cash. When I sat in the passenger seat I was attuned to the car.....if it were my wife, as it often is, she really doesn't care about how the ride feels. She would just shrug her shoulders and ask why it is different than driving.

I responded to your message, Malibu. Maine is a very large place, but we should definitely try to get together, although without your SH-AWD I might not be able to recognize you! But you will see me. BTW, the ME Turnpike speed limit is now 65 on large stretches. You're good in general to 72. But you have to watch for the airplane markings on the shoulder; you'll see them a mile apart. I kid you not.

I know this may sound a little crazy but have you ever taken a ride in the Sport Hybrid??? Don't knock if it you haven't tried it. (As yes most of the beta testers are admittedly a little off our rockers, including me. Different strokes for different folks).

Oh, my apologies! I certainly did not intend to communicate dissatisfaction with the RLX. I've had a few of them as loaners and I quite like them. I hope to eventually try the Sport Hybrid too.
In fact, this thread has inspired me to be a passenger in my own car. I'm going to try it later for some brospective. (Yes, I'm serious about that.)

Not enough to satisfy the buyer and loaner program. Take your car in for service and get one as a loaner. win win.
