Have joined the exclusive Sport Hybrid SH-AWD club

My dealer found one for me still wrapped at the port on the west coast. '17 Adv Graphite Luster with Greystone interior. $50,444 delivered. My '14 RLX Adv has 48188 miles and only garnished $24,000 towards the trade. Pics will follow once taken delivery. Looking fwd to what all the excitement has been about on this site. I think this will make 2-3 of these in the Houston area. I know of only one other person on this site In H-town who has a hybrid.

Congrats. People seem to be getting some almost unbelievable deals on these cars recently. That certainly helps offset that terrible trade value! :ugh:

KBB and Black Book both agreed that this was the value for trade-in. I did get tint, sealant, and 7/84 extended warranty included. I was going to wait until the '18s came out but knew I could not get the year-end/pre-MMC price I negotiated. Had an Adv PAWS locked in for $47 but car was gone before dealer could acquire - this was still wrapped, too. So, for $3.4 more I was able to get the hybrid model.

Limelight 09-22-2017 07:14 AM

Awesome! Congrats to another member making the switch from P-AWS to SH! I had a 2012 TL SH-AWD in Graphite Luster. That color can really pop with some good polish, sealant and wax. Love it!

I look forward to hearing of your impressions. It made me go back and read what I posted earlier this year after I made the switch from P-AWS to SH. In particular, this statement of mine made me smile:

Although not quite as 'stapled' as the TL (understandable for a larger car), the handling dynamics far exceeded the P-AWS, and in Sport mode, the car is lunatic. I would giggle like a schoolgirl each time the SH downshifted like an F1 race car to regenerate the battery. I then found a dead straight country road with no crossroads or driveways and came to a stop. I engaged brake hold and paddle shifted down to M1 - and then mashed on the gas like I was putting out a cigarette. A few brief seconds and a couple of swear words later, I was at 85 mph and I knew she had to be mine."

I hope you experience the same unbridled joy my friend :)

That's a good trade in value. Dealer here was trying to give me $21k and I have 44,000 miles. I am sure you won't be missing the PAWS.

Congratulations. :-) I hope you like it.

Although I can pick apart the KC2 on so many levels, especially the infotainment system, the basic premise behind the car, the power system itself is the best idea anybody has, anywhere, right now.

Awesome price on the '17, especially with Advance! I know I scoured AutoTrader for mine as the local dealer didn't have one, but it didn't occur to me to have the dealer check the Acura/Honda dealer network for a new one still waiting for assignment.

hondamore 09-22-2017 11:11 AM

Congratulations miner. You were one of the early PAWS owners who had to suffer through the peak of the suspension fiasco, so I sincerely hope the joy you have driving the Sport Hybrid begins to atone for what you went through. I look forward to hearing your comparisons and wish you many, many miles of pleasurable, smile-inducing driving.

Regarding the trade-in value of your PAWS RLX, we have to remember that dealers don't pay you the true value of the car. They pay a wholesale price that leaves them room to "spruce it up a bit", look after any issues requiring service (often including new tires) and then sell it for a nice profit even after paying the salesperson who sold it a nice commission. I did the same trading in my '05 RL and I know I could have gotten more for it had I sold it privately (the fact that the dealer sold it the next day for $3000 more than they paid me is proof of that) but I simply didn't want the hassle. Also, the value of the trade in is deducted from the purchase price of the new car which saved me a pile of taxes, so it really works out pretty close but we do end up paying for the luxury of not going through the private sale hassles.

Finally, the amazing good deal you got on the Sport Hybrid was likely at least partly linked to the fact that you traded in your old RLX and the dealership took into account potential profit from the resale when they came to a final price. For a brand new, just off the boat Adv. Sport Hybrid, you got a great deal. Enjoy,

neuronbob 09-22-2017 11:13 AM

It's about time bro! Congrats!

So do I teach the secret RLX Sport Hybrid handshake, or do you guys kill me since I know it and no longer have a Hybrid? :)

JM2010 SH-AWD 09-22-2017 11:42 AM

Congrats. Great deal on a great car.

miner 09-22-2017 11:48 AM

Would love to know the handshake. Thanks for all the feedback from you early adopters of the hybrid. Helped to make my decision easier to make. Nothing close to this for the price in the market today. I have been cross shopping for the past few months; Audi, Jag, Maserati, Lincoln, Cadillac. Came back to Acura.

miner 09-22-2017 11:52 AM

Is the exterior pretty much the same on the '17 as the '14? Light redesign, anything besides amenities?

kingofire 09-22-2017 12:24 PM

Congratulations! I plan to join you guys one day!

Pens Fan 09-22-2017 12:35 PM

Congrats as well-great price too for a car that was not collecting dust in a dealer lot or test driven who knows how many times !!

I coveted a 2014 model when they were first sent over but the limited availability and lack of lease incentives proved too much for me to accept. I then leased a 2015 MDX SH AWD and have really enjoyed it. I rest drove the MDX Hybrid last week and it is awesome as well-I felt the same excitement as when I rest drove the RLX Hybrid years ago. I hope to replace my MDX by February with that model. Enjoy your car it will be a pleasure to drive.

RDX10 09-22-2017 12:41 PM

Congratulations man, I wish you nothing but good luck and good health with that car. But sidenote, my OCD is bugging me, can a Mod PLEASE fix the thread title to ....SH-SH-AWD lmao.

Don't get me wrong guys, I understand the trade in value versus private party/retail. I am experiencing the same thing as I try to unload my RX to move on to a MDX. However, I can't help but wince when I see the 'value' put on what is supposed to be the flagship. I mean I know everything depreciates, but yikes.

You should see the depreciation of the German flagship sedans..... :yikes: But I do agree though that Asian vehicles tend to depreciate MUCH less, for example the Lexus LS has AMAZING depreciation values even 10 years down the road so I think that says a lot about the RLX IMHO.

RLX-Sport Hybrid 09-23-2017 01:24 PM

Welcome to the small club! Some of us have had technical issues as you may have read, but the overall driving experience is what you will soon really enjoy. I'm closing in on three years of ownership and even with a minor battery replacement today, and two of the four tire pressure monitoring sensors recently, if I had to do it again and buy the same car, I would in a second. In fact when the next generation RLX SH comes out, I will be in line to get that one too. It seems that will be in a few years and it will be just about right for a new stallion in our stables.

Enjoy it and tell us what you think! We will coach you through any questions you have.

HDNBenjamin 09-23-2017 09:36 PM

Congrats on the new ride! I too would be an owner should my 08 RL die, but it's still going strong.

Congrats miner! I hope you enjoy it as much as we are. I wish you many healthy and happy miles with her!

miner 09-25-2017 08:53 AM

BTW, this was $2,444 more than an PAWS Adv. I initially inquired about. I saw on my dealers lot a '14 Tech with about the same miles as mine and they were listing it at $26950.

miner 09-25-2017 08:34 PM

$1049 for illuminated door sills installed too much?

RLX-Sport Hybrid 09-25-2017 08:48 PM

Pass on it. Get behind the wheel! You are going to love it!

miner 09-26-2017 07:22 AM

^ Thanks. My initial thoughts, too. Acura should be including them on this level of auto anyway.

miner 09-26-2017 07:28 AM

with the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD are both fobs remote start, or Driver 1 only?

pgeorg 09-26-2017 07:29 AM

^^
Yes both are the same.

miner 09-26-2017 02:34 PM

thnx. With my TLX only driver had the remote start.

Same year MDX Adv with a few hundred less miles is listed for $12K more at the dealership I am selling my car to. They have a '14 RLX Adv listed for $25950.

RLX-Sport Hybrid 09-28-2017 09:03 AM

Dude you are going to love it! I'm very excited for you.

miner 09-28-2017 11:57 AM

Delivery some time next week. Time is crawling......

RLX-Sport Hybrid 09-28-2017 12:17 PM

I get it! I would buy every cop in your local area a cup of coffee before you take delivery in hopes they will cut you a break for speeding. Of course that won't work, but be prepared to smile......a lot!

One thing I am hoping you will experiment with the new ride is seeing how many throttle variations you can enjoy. What I mean is it isn't just about stomping on the gas and hold on that I am talking about, as that is fun too. What I mean is depending on the speed you are starting from, you will be able to learn new ways to accelerate and enjoy what this marvelous power train has to offer. It truly is very special to quote Chris Harris. I actually enjoy being in the regular (non-sport) mode the most as it seems to offer the most variations in throttle response. I enjoy the 20-70mph zone the best. You can slowly add throttle, more firmly add throttle or give it the beans and you will be firmly surprised over and over again, occasionally even shocked that it was more than you anticipated. You might not be very smooth with it to start until you learn how to get into it without your passengers doing the head bob thing. Also you will be traveling faster than you anticipated so be careful as the lack of sound relative to the speed acquired is very deceptive. I'm not saying the car is a Jaguar F-Type R, but it does have a 2nd and 3rd gear throttle response that sure feels close to that car from a seat of the pants perspective. Of course they are not, but that supercharged effect of the Jag feels the same with the Sport Hybrid with the EV power delivery added to the natural torque of the ICE engine. Remember you will have in excess of 400 ft/lbs of tq from idle all the way to red line, and the hp will be more than 400 too. It is no slouch above 80mph either, not that you should do that in the first 1,000 miles, or at all for that matter........but if you do it will be our little secret! I think we all are happy to hear back from new users of this product as it seems to provide a unanimous response of happiness. I think we could all use a little more of it right now considering the political environment we are in. Enjoy!!!!

^^^ your post just made me want to blast home from the office today :drag:

miner 09-28-2017 04:34 PM

First upgrade will be the clear bra for front bumper, partial hood, and mirrors. As many rocks on these roads around here I want to keep the nose chip free, especially a dark color. My '06 RL looked terrible after 1 yr. Since then all my new cars get the protection. A $445 well spent.

Uh - don’t talk about rocks on the road.... My windshield was hit by a massive rock on the way home from work today on the highway and caused it to spider. Dealer quoted me $2,700 to replace... I’ll run it through insurance but it’s still a $500 rock with my deductible.

DAAAAAAAAAMN. I'm selling my Legend illuminated door sills for only $250. I never installed mine, but the shop time quoted on the instructions is only a couple of hours, and from the complexity of the instructions, I believe it. So yeah, $1049 is way too much.

One reason I bought the windshield insurance - OEM glass only, no aftermarket for the RLX.

Car still has not arrived. I have asked for a transport location - that should be easy enough in this day and age. Most OTR transport/trucks have GPS that the companies use to track their progress.
