Is the normal remote on the right in your picture missing that silver section that is part of the physical key for emergency manual use? Looks like a cap of some sort is missing

It is. The physical key portion is on the remote start (silver cap). You only get the original two that came with the vehicle. This is the piece you can remove from the fob by sliding the lever in back.
There is still a sizable difference between the two fobs.

It's no bigger (the Remote-Start one) than the fob on the 17-18 RDX Advances that had the remote start. The little LED's are a nice touch on the bigger remotes. You can verify that you car is indeed locked without seeing your car by the green middle LED.

I had not noticed the lights. What do they do?

Visual indication of start or stop - and maybe lock, haven’t used that.

First Acura so I was surprised by the difference. Definitely a hefty fob.

Much obliged. My only Acura to date was a 1993 Legend, though a new RDX may be next.

It’s a shame it isn’t included on a car at this price range.

That is a shame, and a curiosity. We have a Civic and a CR-V that both came with remote start.

Has anyone just tried to reprogram a remote start key fob to see if the remote start feature works on the 19 RDX. Apparently this is the case on the 2019 Accord Sport, all you have to do is purchase a EX remote and have the dealer reprogram.

I actually just watched this video the other day and clicked this thread to mention the same. It would be interesting to see if reprogramming the key works. Odd that remote start is standard on Canadian models and not even included in any of the USA packages.

Not likely to work. Based on other postings regarding remote start, the FOB activated remote start needs a receiver/transceiver to be mounted above the headliner near to shark find antenna. Without that there would be nothing for the FOB to communicate with.

Leave it to Acura to make things complicated I really don't want to pay $100 a year for the Acura Link subscription.

How long do you plan to keep the RDX? Based on what I paid for AcuraLink, I could drive the car 6 years for under the cost of installing the $600+ remote start equipment. I only keep cars 2-3 years anyway so the app is the better investment for me.

We were going to keep our 2016 RDX for 10 years, but ended up trading it for 2019 A-Spec.. My wife and I are telling our selfs to keep this for 8-10 years(fingers crossed).. LOL. Maybe we will change our mind about Acura link after our 3 months expires because it is a convenient feature to have.
