How much gas.....a cup?

Here's an idea....instead of regurgitating the same of BS over and over again, why don't you post some data? Tell me how rich or lean YOUR car runs at idle, versus coasting, cruising, accelerating at different throttle openings, etc...
I suspect your idea of "fairly rich" is still very insignificant. No matter how you slice it, an idling engine uses very little fuel. The only time an idling engine really runs rich is during a cold start, while still in open loop.

I started this discussion, and I am not a nuclear physicist or a rocket scientist or anything else some of you other people are. I do not care if the car idles "rich" or "lean" or in between. My question again is........on a tank of gas, how much is being typically saved when using the auto idle stop feature? Is it 8 oz? If it is 8 oz, this is the equivalent of about 22 cents per tank? If so, is that really worth having slower starts (once the auto idle stop feature has turned off the car)? And is really worth taking a chance on wearing out some components of the car prematurely, leading to costly repairs?

Good point about risk assessment. Between brake hold and auto stop, I am moving more away from auto stop to brake hold. Am still feeling this car out, with 2500 miles.

And (!) you get to keep your bigger, performance oriented engine. Sounds like a win-win.
