Got reared end and fixed?..Can anyone tell me if these two gaps are normal?
Bought the car in less than 2 months and somebody rear ended it at a red light. Insurance is involved and went to progressive authorized body shop, ABC Collision, in Brooklyn. I brought it back once because of these gaps between the tail lights and bumpers. They replaced the bumper brackets but still have visible gaps, see pictures. They said it is normal but I don't agree. Does your car look like this? What can I do if it is not normal? Can I request progressive not issue payment to the bodyshop until they fix it or can I request to re-estimate the gap repair cost and have progressive issue a check to me so I can bring it to somewhere else to fix?

The gap in the pictures are bigger than what they should be for sure. Not sure if you can ask insurance company to give you a different body shop to work on those. hope it works out at the end.

I would insist having it fixed by Acura dealeship rather than third party bodyshop that insurance company usually recommend, I think you have the right to choose where to bring the car to be fix? no?

Can you post a pic of yours in the same angle so I can make a quick comparison?

it is right but the acura dealerships by my home do not do body work. They also have an dealership authorized 3rd party body shop. The ABC Collision I went to have a 4.5 stars yelp review but disappointing job on my car. I contacted the adjuster and bodyshop called me and said they gonna replace the whole bumper. I would like to request a check for the estimate cost of replacing the whole bumper , but the adjuster refused.

Never knew of a dealer service dept. that did body work. They always send it out.

Some insurance claims will only use non-OEM parts to reduce cost. Make sure you insist on OEM Acura/Honda parts.

They said they used OEM part. They said the car is brand new and redesigned in 2018/2019 and there is no non-OEM in the market. I'm going to drop it off tomorrow morning once again. This will be my third time drop off and I hope I will never see them again after I pick up the car.

The body shop should never deny or say that something normal. they’re paid by the insurance company and can simply fix it and rebill them (some may need to approve supplements). they shouldn’t get defensive with you, they should agree and work with your insurance to get it right. Sounds like a mickey mouse shop to me
