Is it just my car, or is there no freeze warning alarm in the '19 RDX?

Don't know if there is or not but experience tells me that if it's getting close to 32F, or 0C, that's when freezing is going to occur. If it's really 'missing' I'm not going to go on a rant about how it should be included.

No rant. It's a legitimate question. The last car I owned that didn't have one was manufactured in the mid 90's. Where I live, the temps regularly vary greatly by elevation and there could be a 10 degree or better difference over the course of 5 miles.

I guess I'm missing the point of a vehicle operating at 33F compared to 32F? What is the purpose of a freeze warning? It would seem that wouldn't matter because temp will drop even more as soon as you drive above 2 mph because of wind chill factor.

The point is that the car alerts you to conditions where the road may have black ice. It is a safety feature that will call attention to deteriorating conditions if you aren't paying attention to the tiny outside temperature reading on the main dash display. It could easily have been implemented in the vehicle software. No, the RDX doesn't have this feature.

I can see how this alert might not work well in certain areas like the desert southwest. We range from mid teens to low 30s this time of year for morning lows in ABQ. We have extremely low humidity and very little rain or snow (under 10 inches per year and sometimes as low as 6-7 inches per year). Even with 2-3 inches of snow overnight, it will be 90%-100% gone on hwy/side streets by late afternoon because of the direct sunlight and +50 degree days. All season tires is all we need around here with our dry and sunny winters. This alert would be turned off 99.99% of time in the southwest. It would have to be something tied into XM or smartphone with Apple/Android Carplay to account for various local conditions for your exact location.

Nope, the temperature will still be whatever it is. 33F with 0 MPH wind and 33F with 50 MPH wind is still 33F and water will not freeze. The wind chill is simply a calculation as to how it 'feels' on bare skin. A meteorologist once told me the ONLY real world use for 'wind chill factor' is it can aid in determining how fast an object will lose heat down to, but never below, the actual temperature.

I had this feature in my BMWs and my Audi, I don't miss it, I can see the temperature on my dash, I don't need to the computer to tell me when it falls below 37 degrees, just like I don't need Caution..HOT on my coffee when I order it, its common sense.

There can be black ice in shaded areas when the "overall" ambient temperature is in the 40's or 50's. You need to be aware of what happened overnight, and the weather history of wherever you might be traveling.

Consider slowing down to give yourself more leeway in winter, and/or invest in winter tires or "all weather tires" if you just can't help yourself.

Modern smartphone weather apps are a wonderful thing. I'm sure you can find one that will alert you when ambient temp falls below freezing.

Another annoying alarm? No thanks. There are enough beeps, lights, buzzers, and infotainment messages already in modern cars already.

Absolutely agree. Bridges also freeze sooner than pavement, so a temperature alert wouldn't work there. Best to get winter tires and maintain situational awareness.

OP is asking a legitimate question, some of you really don't need to be so condescending (not talking to you mrgold). It's a feature that has been on German cars since forever and some people like having it so why not.

While I am not a fan of freeze warnings, wind chill (either because of prevailing winds or because the vehicle is moving) has exactly zero to do with the outside air temperature. Said another way, if it is 28°F outside with the car stationary, it will still be 28°F if the car is moving at 100 mph.

I agree, I had in in my Touaregs and X5's..it would come on when the temps got to 4 degrees Celsius or under. I didn't really understand what was going on the first time it popped up lol.
