Despite the rumors, that's not an acceptable area, either. I believe it's actually a safety risk.

It is possible that if you get in a car wreck your passanger could be decapitated from the flying license plate.

lol....well whatever the case may be I think its fucking stupid to run it on teh dash.

Thats like putting a ten foot lift on a truck and hanging the headlights 6ft below the front bumper to make it legal.

It seems to me that maybe Texas would save money by only issuing one plate for the back...

I don't have my front plate; it's bolted on the back with the other one! I don't want a front one since it looks like my car has a buck-tooth!

Around my area of Dallas, the "heat" will stop traffic along a street, i.e., Fitzhugh, to look for anything to pull you over. If your stickers are good, etc., you get waved through, BUT I didn't have a front plate so this one cop wanted me to pull over into a parking lot. It was already full of others who were pulled over, so the cop said, "Today's your luck day..." What a DICK!

I had a bad dream that they pulled me over and bolted the plate crooked onto my front bumper!! LOL!!

LOL. Funny you guys are having this conversation!
Ran up on a Texas State Trooper a few days ago driving along a frontage road, my detector went off so I slowed down to the speed limit and was right behind him when he suddenly signals right and pulles over onto the shoulder. Had no choice but to pass him then.
Sure enough, he flipped his lights on and pulled me over.
Well, I have a Swift Motorized Hide Away front plate. As he approaches my car on the right I am pressing my remote, just playing it safe, in case he looks out front.
I am curious as to why he pulled me over. As he approaches my passenger window I roll the window down.
He states, "You know why I pulled you over?", pause "You don't have a front plate. Do you know what happened to it?"
I replied, with a puzzled look on my face. "It should be there."
Trooper walks to front of vehicle, takes a look and comes back. Says, "Yep there it is. It is a little low. Have good day!"
I'd been waiting for that day. Best $150 I've ever spent!

^I have seen it on his car and it is very sleek. If I repaint my bumper, I will be getting one.

I used two aluminum 1-1/2 inch x 1/8 inch flat bars cut about a little longer than the bracket to attach the swift motorized plate bracket. The two bars were bolted together and then attached to a bolt I found located front bottom center of the radiator support. The lower rear lip of the front bumper cover is sandwiched tight in-between the two bars. I didn't have to drill any holes anywhere on the car. I tried to take a few pictures to show. Don't know if you can make out how I did it by looking at the photos, but here's a try.

I've talked to a few cops locally and they all said you are still required to have a front plate. So either keep it on or go all way to court and prove yourself right with all the documents and what not.

over here int he golden triangle they started pulling people over with no liscense plate...and giving out citations...

i just zip tie mines on...better than getting a ticket....i wish i had one of those hide away plate...but i would kill the bracket by how low my tl is..since the bracket sits lower than my front bumper..
