Possible move to texas...

A move to texas might be in my future, near houston? I currently live in nj.

Hows the weather throughout the year? I figure i can probably consolidate both my cars and just use my nsx for daily driving

whats the closest mountain for snowboarding and other winter activities?

Hows gas prices now?

Hows the tuner scene?

HELL YES!
Htown represent!

we have a pretty big tuner scene. Remember the fast and the furious? those were all our guys!

as for the weather, you're going to fucking hate summer. 100+ temps with high humidity.
after you take a shower, you'll feel sweaty again. Also your towel will not be dry for your next one.

but this only last for 2 months, three tops.
Spring is nice and fall is nice. YOU'LL love winter, your car will never be dirty with snow and other crap.

closest mountain? are you crazy, we're flat! you'll have to travel to colorado or arizona.

gas prices are sitting at 2.80 to 3.00 for premium. in the summer, they will rise tho.

if you have any more questions, ask!
we recently had 2 memeber move from new york and new jersey to Houston.

I met both and said its not that bad here.
they havent met summer yet.

Yeah ive heard about summer from my gf. Shes the one planning on moving down after graduating from college.

Is houston the main city? As in all the shopping malls, food, entertainment? Possibly comparable to new york city?

Are the cops strict with car mods?

Hows the unemployment rate?

Thanks for the response

pretty much the main, well theres surrounding cities like bellaire and sugarland.

for malls, well the good ones..there is first colony in sugarland, memorial mall, and the Galleria. all within like 20 mins from eachother.

for food, eh its ok. lots of hole in the wall places that are pretty badass. theres washington ave. , midtown, and the village(kirby&university) for your bars.

i havent seen/heard anyone get pulled over for illegal car mods haha. only tint, speeding, and no front plate.

crappy unemployment rate.

Houston's economy was never effected by the recession because of big businesses, port of Houston, NASA, etc...

Houston is a great place to find jobs.

The best mall we have is the Galleria which most celebrities went to during the Superbowl weekend a few years back (the JANET JACKSON WARDROBE MALFUNCTION).

The tuner scene is big in Houston. (Houston-imports.com)
The gas prices are good in Houston also, always below the National Average 99% of the time.

Houston can be boring sometimes because of the lack of nature (mountains, snow, etc...). But for raising a family, finding a job, and a prospering economy, you chose the right place.

seeing that you're from the nyc downtown houston would probably be the best bet. i'm more of a quiet person so i live about 45 minutes away close to the woodlands. cops are bitches only at the end of the month and will pull you over for bs like no front plate and tint. the tuner scene is amazing seeing that we have the saturday meets at planet zero. amazing turnout everytime and the exotic scene has stepped it up lately too!

Tell the GF its Fuking Hot and make sure she understands what to do.
Hill Country starts in Austin and goes west.
Houston is flat pancake.
People left Houston in droves in the 80's then in the 90's they came in droves. Now its a Mass and very bad traffic.
Houston size is just smaller than Chicago - DFW is second, SA is third and Austin fourth.
If you want diversity of NYC - the closest to that is Austin {Live Music party city}.
Houston is not as Red Neck as DFW or small Texas towns but lot more than Austin.
Low cost of living in H town - Considerable higher cost in Austin.
Bad air - Brown water.
Smells like oil which is in the Gulf.
Might be a par with NJ on a good day.
Snow Ski and Board in Co or NM.
If God wanted Texans to ski ... he would have painted Bull Shit white.
