Front plates?

I know the law is that you need to have front plates. But ive also seen some tx members who dont have them. Will cops harass you over for not having front plates?

I got pulled over for no front plate 4 times in 3 years when I had my del Sol. I've had my CL for 2 years with no front plate and no problems. Just depends on what kind of day the officer has had.

Really depends on the cop and ur driving behaviours.
I've gotten pulled over twice and by the same cop for no front lic plate, but he let me go both times.
I usually get pulled over at night and at that time they don't do much checking around.

I got a ticket for no front plates on my car before. It was the end of the month and the cop had a chip on his shoulder as soon as he got out of the car. It was on my 96 honda accord. When I told him that in Louisiana, front plates are not issued he didnt care. I even had it in the front window. It all depends on the cop and the day he's having I believe.

Never had the issue. Then again, never been really pulled over for anything but a warning.

The only time I see the cops really giving people shit for no front license plates is when they've already stopped for something else. My bud was pulled over for speeding, and the cop decided to add on "No front license plate" to his ticket.

It's also a tad funny. Never been stopped for it, but I have been stopped for having a smoked rear license plate cover.

exactly.. in my and friends experiences, the cops usually dont bother unless you get pulled over for something else and they can tack it on.. the only time i have ever been pulled over JUST for my plate was a few months ago in yoakum while visiting my gparents.. i was the only one in the area so maybe he was just bored.. officer was cool as hell and just gave me a warning.. i went ahead and put it back on just to avoid anymore shit like that.. i only had it off because i bought the car that way..

Still illegal.

As everyone has said, it is a cops discretion.
Hope no one peed in their Wheaties that morning.

In my dad's 10 years of driving his 3000GT, he has never been pulled over for no front plate and he drives his car daily to work and back. I've been pulled over once but had the stripped front plate bracket in the trunk and told him that the reason why I don't have it on is because the screw holes are stripped and I don't want it falling off and causing an accident. He totally bought it and just said to get a new one and left.

You need a good excuse just in case.

I can tell you this....on the tollway, if the state trooper is there just sitting at the entrance he'll flag you over for that shit.

got me twice, but both times he let me go. plus I think having a CHL helps. at least thats what Im told

I haven't been pulled over and i drive by cops all the time. They usually wave at me and i wave back lol. my front plate is in my window but its not that visible. also passed by state troopers who where heading towards me and they didn't even nudge. But i will say this if i do get pulled over ill remount it but not with the stock holder. and technically if its "visible" they cant do anything.

pay the 10ish dollars for court fee and move on

I can tell yall this, for the most part it has alot to do with the cop and the attitude you have when you get stopped. However, most cops use it as a reason to stop you and make sure all of your stuff is straight. So if you are going to ride around without a front plate i suggest you make sure you have all your shit straight and dont drive with anything illegal in the car.....just my 2 cents

You have a few options. The only time I put on the front plate (inside the window) is when I am doing road trips to Austin or Houston. I know state troopers are out there unless I am traveling at night. Anyway

I have had this happen a couple times to my friends and most of them have gotten warnings. I hate to jynx myself as I don't run with a front plate. As long as your not driving retarded the cop won't do anything about it. Plano police and Dallas police seem to be pretty good about that. Don't act suspicious when driving...Swerving and so on, not paying attention etc... But most of the time they won't hassle you. I think the only people that will get you for it are the state troopers depending on mood of the cop. Being able to talk to the cop also helps. My friend with a TL recently got bumped and he had his plate inside the car. The cop asked him to put it in the front of the car but didn't give him a warning just a verbal. But yea the plate has to be on the front bumper.

There have been laws every year trying to pass the single plate rule but seems like it never gets passed.

You: "...but Officer, what do you mean I don't have a front license plate? It's right there below the bumper."

Cop: *walks to the front of your car*

You: *hit the switch*

Great joke. Seriously and obviously, all kidding aside , I am sure all you guys and gals (we) being responsible Acurazine members and law-abiding Texans , this mod would only be intended to be used to retract the plate when the vehicle is not traveling on a public Texas road or parked for show  . Right.

Just thought I would throw that out there for any of our law-enforcement community who might be viewing.

It's still a very cool mod! I am gonna get it done too!

I think if you bottom out that badly the license plate is the least of your worries. You are probably looking at the hassle of getting a new front end? Just sayin.

Here is the mod on GenIII TL.
