The BIG AS TEXAS 2010 meet planning thread

Alright fellas. its that time again. The spring break starts March 15-19th, so we have 13/14 or 20/21 weekends to work with.

The meet will be in Austin as always.

I've setup a poll for both weekends, u can pick one or both.

i have most maps from previous years and know some roads. i will say that this is some quick planning. usually we have a few months to get people and our shit together.

there is a nice drive out to blanco or fredricksburg we could do. alamo creek cafe has the best hamburgers ever! voted by texas monthly one of the top burgers in texas.

^^ I was just there yesterday on a wine cruise, and they have some darn good burgers...but trying to find seats is a problem.

Any of the roads 335/336/337 Are awesome roads for cruises. They are called the Twisted Sisters for a reason.

I'm not sure. I think it might be in the northwest part. Kevin can tell you better.

we usually roll out between 9-10. depending on where we go is where we meet in austin. last time we drove out NW of town so we met in round rock, just north of austin. we have also met in south austin before when we went that direction.
seems as though some may be out for those dates. i know it is impossible to pick a perfect date but i would definitely recommend working with a weekend that Grayson likes. he knows a TON of good roads! i have been on quite a few riding bikes this past month and am trying to map those routes out for consideration.

hell i have maps from a few good meets back that we can reuse. roads are still damn fun.

Id say push it back when its a bit hotter I dunno. Seems like the replies are a bit on the low side lol. I dunno...Spring Break everyone is travelling and they have other things to do or things that are already planned. I would push it back another month or two but that is just me. You might get more people when school is about to end and after finals.

I'm a little fish in a big pond in here but we need to decide on what date can be set since this is about a month away. We waited till the last minute last year and the turn out wasn't very good if I remember correctly. Lots of people have plans for Spring Break so in my opinion maybe late March or early April so we can get everything planned out with the route and people can make plans to show up on the date agreed upon.

I would like to see a large turn out this year with more new people in Austin and i'm sure in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

Id say around may honestly but thats just my opinion. That way people can get finals out of the way and have more time. Spring break weekend is hectic for some people and I dont think a lot of people would like to spend there time around cars. Instead you got alcohol, the beach, and ladies.

Yep. With the weather looking the way it is its either gonna be nice or its gonna be blistering hot haha. Only two choices since this winter is lasting a bit longer than I remember.
