update on inaugural hockey game (for me)...this was an exhibition game: We won 4-0 and I pummelled a guy mid ice.

Cool, may not be until 7 though. I have to go up to the dealership and drop off my rental and get a loaner through the service department. Hopefully I will get my car back tomorrow before we all meet up.

^^^ Let me know what type of speeds you get once they get it running. I have been on comcast for over 3 years now and I have gone through 3 different modems. The speeds that I get are pretty much crap. They keep telling me it is my router, but after trying a different router and then no router, it is still crap.

well he was supposed to be here at 10. he said saturday that I needed a dedicated line just for the modem. Thats what we are going to do today. If this doesnt keep my modem from droping offline constantly then I will just go back to DSL. I currently have the DSL hooked up to my wifes computer at the moment

Did they say why you have to have a dedicated line? Is it due to there being too much noise on the line that you were using?

i got him and my contractor upstairs and they already have it ran. just a few more things and I should be good to go

he just got done explaining it to me. first off he said we are using old smaller cable which for tv its great. but to send and receive info its not so good. so we upgraded the line and now there is only one split and its outside

ah gotcha, that makes sense. I still haven't figured out why I get slow speeds at home. I am supposed to be getting at least 3mbps down, but I am only getting 1.5 down. They suggested that maybe it is the cable, but this is an apartment complex that has only been here for maybe 5 years. So I have no clue what may be causing my slow speeds.

I think you may be in the same boat as I. He just left. My upstream numbers are 58.0. Optimum is 45 to 55. So mine is still somewhat high. Before we ran the home run my upstream was 61.0 so we did make a difference. The good thing is now we've ruled out the house, modem, router and computer. So now he said techs will come out and tweak it a little. But no more having to be here for appointments. But I'll tell you what, if it wasnt for this guy I would've been long gone. He really does want me to stay with comcast and he will do everything in his power to keep me. He gave me his direct number. Told me to call him anytime. Thats just good buisness IMHO.
