Windows media center edition.
Not sure I really understand your question, but here goes. WMC comes as an OS package and installs like any other flavor of XP, though you won't be able to take advantage of all its features unless you have some pretty serious hardware, which includes a TV tuner card. A good sound card, graphics card, fast processor and big hard drive are also pretty essential. The list of compatible hardware (primarily TV tuner cards) is pretty slim but growing, so there are choices out there - just do your homework to make sure they'll work with WMC before you buy. You'll probably also need a WMC remote control as well.
There's a good article on WMC at AnandTech: http://www.anandtech.com/multimedia/showdoc.aspx?i=2240
