Win7 Boot problem

Win7 Boot problem
I have no idea what my gf did to her computer. You turn it on and the cursor at the top left of the screen just blinks forever. So I created a bootable flash drive (Hirens Boot CD) and there was an option at the bottom of the boot screen "Boot Windows Vista/7". I select that, and her computer boots right up no problem. But it seems to require the boot drive to get it to that point.
What's next? I checked the boot.ini file, looks fine. Is there another file I need to check? Registry?
Computer is an HP Mini with Windows 7 Starter.
Thanks!
