What's wrong with my laptop?

I turned on my laptop and all I see is this:

It doesn't show up on my laptop screen. So, I have to plug it into another monitor to see what's going on.

I get that blue screen about once a month on my work computer. In fact, I just got it yesterday and had to restart

what it do!!!! I knew stogie was going to say that.

I'd say they're caused by bad memory or hard drive. but probably memory. I know dell's having a diagnostic mode you can boot into if you hit f12 when you see the dell logo, I'm not sure about HP though they probably do look for it to say something like that when the machine boots.

Try running a memory test like memtest86 which you can get at www.memtest86.com

nv4_mini.sys relates to your video card driver. Update it.

The black screen with all the garbage, never seen such. I would think memory issue.

Second pic is blue screen of death. Actual term. Look it up.
Could be related to an assortment of problems: motherboard, memory, bad hard drive etc etc...

perhaps time for a new laptop . . .

Agreed. RAM is probably your culprit.

Yeah, so the user can actually try to diagnose and fix the problem himself instead of paying some anti-social elitist snob called a "genius" to do it for a large sum of cash (at the "genius'" convenience).

Thats the most garbled start screen I've ever seen. Last known goof configwratkon

the driver specified in the BSOD is a video driver, but it could still be a memory problem. Was it really hot when this happened?

Looks like I have to buy a new laptop...

Suggest me a good/best laptop for graphic design and entertainment (gaming, movies and music)?

Before you do that, remove the RAM boards and re-seat them. Sometimes that will cure it.

I've done it earlier, I still have blue screen of death and garbage on Windows Advanced Options. It something to do with my video card.

The Mac fixes it's own problems, no service required.

I guess if you consider "fix" to include shut off and not turn back on again, then yes.

Any time I've needed help or fixing, I've never been charged.
