What Mp3 Management Software?

Not sure if this belongs more in Audio/Video (Mods feel free to move).... I just got a 30gb Mp3 player and have tons of music to transfer over (Ripped from my CDs ofcourse). My problem is I want a software program that I can easily edit the mp3 properties (Album, Title, Genre etc...).

Therefore, what mp3 management software do you use?

so you want to "easily edit mp3 properties" - use Winamp.

itunes = for the birds

I don't know... I don't have an Ipod, but I'm sure I can still use it... I heard that the iTunes converts the file and encrypts it to not be easily transferable.

It's very easy to transfer from one computer to another if you have an ipod

That's what I figured... unfortunately I don't have an IPod.

I tried downloading MusicMatch 10.0 twice now, both times had issues running the program after installation. Going to search around for for more stuff.

If you want to rename the album artist year genre etc then I highly recommend The Godfather. Try to find it on www.download.com It is really great if you have full albums because you can search 2 or 3 databases and the album artist etc will already be ready for you, you just have to apply it to the songs. I've used it on roughly 3-400 albums so far and I'll continue to use it for the rest of my albums that I have. Get it

Anyone? Is it just because it's ipod related and people like to bash it?

the only thing i hate about itunes is when you rip a cd with it, It will create the folders on your hard drive, but if you have a song on that cd that features someone else, it will create a new folder for just that sone. Like if you have a cd by Jay-Z and you have a song on that cd that features eminem, it will create a folder that says Jay-z Featuring Eminem. Then you click on that folder and the name of the jayz cd will be there and in that folder will be that one song. The problem is that it takes it out of the jay z folder and puts it in the other one...I HATE THAT.

I just downloaded this freeware called Mp3Tag... Allows me to mass edit all the ID3 tags for my collection. It also allows me to convert Filenames into Tags and visa versa. Then I use Windows Media Player to synchronize my PC and Philips HDD6330.

Thanks for everyone's help. I am still going to try out some of the software packages mentioned just to see if I like any others more.

hey, whaddyaknow... Windows Media Player is good for something..... I'm cleaning through an MP3 directory and I had been pulling my hair out with Winamp as far as deleting files is concerned... have to select the file, then click "Rem", point to "Remove >" and then point to "Physically Remove Files"... what a PITA. In WMP you can just Shift-Delete... the first time, it prompts you whether you want to delete from the Playlist or delete from the Playlist and the computer - select option #2 and select "don't ask again"... done.

Thanks WMP, you're good for something.
