How is the gsm service? I am thinking of switching from verizon to cingular (i REALLY want a v3 razr)

right now i have verizon and its great, i got it because in high school all my friends had verizon so all my calls to them were basically free. now im in college and the people i talk to most (i know lame) are my parents who are both in cingular. for all the people here, my calls are only <1min long.

i know that the cingular service in nashville is great, but how is it in westchester, or nyc metro in general
