Verizon Phone Help, Razr, Treo 700w, or Blackberry 7130e

Palm Treo™ 700w
Motorola RAZR V3c
Motorola E815
Blackberry 7130e

Can anyone explain to me if EVDO usage on the LG8000 & Treo will come out of my regular minutes similar to how Verizons Express Network works with my LG6000 (using the data cable to connect to my laptop, and then to the internet?

Or, do I have to buy a separate EVDO usage plan to make broadband access work?

I really want broadband access, but if its $60 more on top of my regular phone bill, then I don't want it.

Who is the resident verizon expert?

1. Lg 8000 is discontinued
2. Legally you can not tether your phone and use evdo on your laptop via data cable...they will have plans and advertise ceartin phones where you pay additonal fee (15-30 dollars i believe, I have to look into it) and you can tether it (you can check on blackberryforums.com they seem to have some users who are already doing it)

I hope that answers your question...if you have more post away

Mikey, Is there anyway to get the E815 for free with my NE2 agreement? I loved the LG8100, but the whole recall situation with those has turned me to the E815. However its $49 after my NE2 discount

Not in a corp store...you can wait because the 815 was free for a while and the 8100 used to be $50 dollars...so i have a feeling the prices are going to flip flop soon...

everything im reading says the 700 has its flaws(treocentral.com). I'll wait a little while longer to make the choice.

Too bad tethering apparently gets you in big trouble with verizon (if overused and abused).

taken from treocentral.com

I have had the 6700 on Sprint and have the 700w on Verizon now.

The 6700 is a do-all mini-laptop powerhouse, but I found it quite a bit more cumbersome to use foe phone and other quick-use items. After having that device I was convinced that I would always have an exposed keyboard device in the future.

That said, I have run out of memory on the 700w and have had a couple of occasions where it came to a crawl and had to be reset. My 6700 never ran out of memory, but it locked up two times upon incoming call.

Interesting, I wonder why the hidden keyboard would be such a pain? I would consider the sliding keyboard to be one of it's best features, unless there are mechanical/functional issues with it...

I am a nerd and have both the blackberry 7130e and the 7250...

I like the 7250 for the qwerty keyboard but the 7130 has a sick as screen and has the broad band connection (with the potential to teather). As well as the speaker phone...They have been selling like hot cakes because people dont like the old style blackberry (its like talking on a calculator) (Spelling might be bad...I had alot ot drink!)....

But if your doing alot of email and have full use for a blackberry I feel they are way more stable then any other PDA device on the market...

sweet. Thanks for all your input so far.

To piggy back on what you said earlier, the 700w is new to the market and has its flaws. A few bugs and quirks yet to be worked out. A few revisions, and it will be the shit.

After reading through tons of crappy forums Im leaning towards the 7130e now. Now if I can just find a friggin 7130e in my area, or maybe wait for the BB 8700 CDMA version?

I think I'm starting to read too much into this. Just pick one and go!

naa, I went to verizonwireless.com and it said out of stock, but I just went to the store for a hands on experience and I could have gotten the 7130e. So ignore my last comment.

They had an XV6700 demo on hand, that thing is pimp. The XV6700 goes on sale on the 19th. I'll probably go with that or the 700w. either way I lose, cause 1 month down the road, there will be something cheaper, and faster on the market.

I really didn't like the layout of the BB 7130e, or the samsung i730. the 7130e had that weird trackball on the side, and sure type. the salesman said you get used to it after a while, but meh, I just didn't like the look and feel of the BB.

I havent seen a real article, but here is something someone wrote up.

Some of his facts are a little messed up as it was written 2 weeks before the release. But it'll give you a general idea.
