Verizon LG VX6000 - Broken Hinge

hey,

I have an almost one-year old VX6000 and one day I noticed the hinge area had a crack. Is there anything that Verizon can do to repair this flimsy piece of shit? I didn't drop it or anything. I don't want to shell out $300 or so on the "retail" version. I can pull off that part of the hinge if I tried. The phone barely holds itself up in the open position and usually drops down and disconnects my call if I move my ear away. Fucking annoying!

ken: YES, made in Korea

Geisha: Damn that sucks. Did you know what caused that? Drop it? Sit on it? (though I doubt YOU would crush it too hard )

Also guys, I just found my old receipt for the phone. It was purchased/activated on July 10 of 2003. So if its warranty work...its coming up soon!

My friend had the same thing happen and nextel said that they dont cover cosmetic damages to the phone, even if you have that insurance thing. I went to go change the housing for it and the guy there said I could always just say I lost it and get another one minus whatever deductible. I might as well just get a new phone if I'm going to have to pay for the same old POS anyway...but nextel has yet to come out with a phone that interests me. No cam phones (yet) no bluetooth and no phones with that screen on the outside when you flip it closed that displays a picture :'(

And no I didnt abuse the phone or anything heh, I guess it was just the wear and tear from using it a LOT. Oh well

That is always true, but I think they said something about it being a refurbished phone and I could apply that $50 toward a new phone with a better plan with a different provider. Amazon.com has the E715 for $99 after 39483948394 rebates. Thats not the phone I want to get, but if nextel doesn't up the game with their phones soon I'm going to have to switch until they do. I'm tired of having a crappy phone

I'm not saying this is very likely to happen to all VX6000s. I know plenty of people w/ the phone w/o any problems. It just sucks it happened to me!

just go into Verizon tell them the phone shuts off every few hrs and they will swap it out and transfer all your #'s over to the new one for you

I went to a store to talk about my problem. They claimed only one store in the area can do repairs and it was not theirs. They claimed the other store would sell me another VX6000 at their discretion for $50.00

I guess I'll have to go there and see.
