Using PDA phone as modem for laptop

I have Verizon and can use my v710 as a modem to connect my laptop to the Internet but only at slow speeds (like 80k). I see their new PDA phones have EVDO access but high speed Internet on a tiny screen wouldn't do me much good. Can any of the phones be cabled to a laptop to give the laptop high speed Internet?

I think they can. I know the Sprint EVDO phones can. Unless Verizon blocks this, the phone is at least capable. And you'll get much better speeds on your laptop.

Yeah I read one place that they did that on the Samsung i730. I was hoping other phones could do it or there was a hack/workaround.
