Upgrading battery (Moto T720)

I was just about to head over to the Verizon shop to get a lithium battery for my T720. Then I went on ebay, the prices are reallly LOW. Ranging from $10- $20. What am I missing here, are these battery's good? Anyone have any experiences with buying these online? Anything to watch out for that wont screw up my phone? and are these the same size as the original battery's? thanks

same size n stuff just makes sure its not aftermarket. gotta get the OEM Motorola batteries...verizon will probably charge a lot more than the internet.

exactly.. make absolutely 100% sure it's OEM ... and make sure it has not been used.. ymmv ... i, for one, would spend the money on a battery from verizon.. but then again, if it's just $10, might be worth the risk..

yeah, a $10 battery may be worth the risk, but not worth jacking up the phone. I followed Slooo97CL's advice and found a bunch of Moto OEM battery's. I'll stick with those, they are selling for around $25 on ebay. These extended lithium battery's are bigger battery's and require new battery doors. Anyone have this setup, how does it look? Any side profile pics? thanks!

I've had the T720 for awhile, very user friendly and the phone is very nice, but the battery life sux so bad. I'm getting the extended battery, it should help alot.

hint of advice 720 sucks...

And go for verizon service...
a530 is real nice, lg4400 is nice....

Batterys...get any oem battery off the internet, if u have a problem bring it to verizon and they will swap it out for you..so who cares if it is used or not! you just bring it in and they will exchange it for free!

There isn't that much difference between Moto batteries and other reputable aftermarket batteries. All pretty much the same cells.

I never had a problem with aftermarket batteries in my phones or cameras.

The Verizon store near me wanted over 50-dollars for a Kyocera battery for my wife’s phone.
I bought a brand new generic one with a HIGHER capacity off EBAY for 6-bucks.

An OEM battery for my Canon G3 digital camera I just bought goes for about 70-dollars.
I bought TWO of them for 23-bucks off the same guy.
All three came in sealed packages and look exactly like the OEM versions minus the name.

I understand markups, but 700% for a name brand battery is ridiculous.

I absolutely hate my T720 - the battery is awful, the screen is impossible to see in sunlight, the volume is soooo weak, every peice of dust in a 20 mile radius gets sucked under the screen, and when it's done charging it freezes up and I have to take the battery out and put it back in. That's when the contacts for the charger actually work. Other than that, great phone.

I have the LG4400 and I like it... The 720 just felt cheap compared to the 4400.

Verizon is selling the hell out of the T720.
Sprint doesn't sell the same T720 at all.

But you guys won't blame the carrier for a poor phone but at the same time you blame the carrier for a poor network?

You say "who needs a great phone when the network sucks" but you don't say "who needs a great network when the phone sucks"?

I know it's not exactly apples and oranges but I have yet to see Verizon's name (or ATT for that matter) pop up in this "thread".

And don't try to blame Motorola; it's a Verizon phone, it passed their "rigorous" specifications. That phone is performing the way it does because of Verizon...not because of Motorola.

Ok, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

caveat:

everybody's rolled a bad phone out once or twice

it's what you do about it. these people on verizon that got the bad software can go in and get a BRAND NEW PHONE for free.

there is a reason why the trinkets on the cell phones aren't helping sprint suceed: they don't matter.

i only mention this because you posed the question in your post.

I haven't had a single problem with my T720. Everything works perfectly, and the service is awesome (verizon).

I think network is all that matters when it comes to cell phones. All the phones serve the same fucking purpose. The extra features are nice, but when it come right down to it, the service/network is the most important thing.

Goose- you've been lucky. I had my original T720 replaced (screen went nuts and blanked out). My second one appeared to be working okay (until I got water in it) But the main complaint is the standard battery! I wish they would make color phones that would last (in terms of battery durability) as good as a reg ones

Don't you mean you wish Verizon made a few more color phones than 1 or 2 that they sell, which have better battery life?

Sprint has a least a dozen color phones, all with extended battery options, and most have very good to excellent battery life with the standard.

You are probably expecting too much from Motorola on one of their "first" US color display phones. If you like Motorola, you might have to wait awhile...until they catch up.

Hehe, so why you paid for the Moto? Verizon has a bunch of "free" phones.

If you have Cingular then the 720 is a GSM phone, your old phone was most likely a TDMA V60. You upgraded and switched technologies at the same time. GSM will get better in the future, but TDMA right now is the best.

you can't really downplay the number of color phones that verizon sells. there are at least a half a dozen color phones out there for verizon.

the standard battery on ALL your color phones SUCK. in particular the a500 and the sanyo 5300. they are worthless. extended batteries are always available (hell - we make just as much as you do on accessories like that so we better have them).

his point is that the trinkets on the phone don't matter. i've been trying to tell you this for years, but you continue to defy that. all i have to do is refer to the performance to see what really matters to customers.

the T720 is now old anyways, and isn't a flagship phone. i agree motorola has better to offer, and we will see them soon on the marketplace.
