Switching phones on an existing plan

I have a LG5350 on a Sprint PCS Vision plan currently. Basically my LG's signal sucks where I am going to be moving in 2 months and so I need a better phone. I want to keep my existing plan though.

How do I go about doing this? Is it possible to order one on Sprint's website and still get the rebates?

I'm sure someone's done this in the past.

BTW, I'm looking at the Nokia 3588i because it's $150 with a $150 rebate and people have nice things to say about it's signal strength. Like I said though, I dont' know if I'm able to qualify for any rebates since I have an existing plan. I couldn't find anything on sprint's website about this either.

What's the story here... am I shit out of luck and have to pay full price?

Does Sprint have any trade-in programs or anything like that? Kensteele?

I want anything that's not terribly expensive and pulls a better signal than my Lucky Goldturd 5350.

3588i s/b free on deal with a contract. I would go to the Sprint store and see if they can cut you a deal.

Hey Ken, what do you think of the Sanyo SCP-4900?
http://www.sanyo.com/wireless/handsets/scp-4900.htm

I've read it gets awesome reception and it'll work with my vision service. It looks like I can get some good prices on it from places like eBay too. It's last year's phone, but I'm not really looking for the latest and greatest trend, just something that'll work with my existing service plan (which I like) and will give me better reception.

If I bought a phone off of eBay, can I take it to any Sprint store and get it all setup with my current service?

you don't need to take it in...you can just call sprint and give them the ESN # off the back of the new phone and they will switch it over.

OK, that sounds easy enough. What about provisioning the phone with all of my account info - vision login info, number, etc? Will Sprint help me do that over the phone too?

It's a great phone and yes you can. There is a replacement coming but if you're just looking for the basic, this is probably one of the better ones.

yes you can do everything over the phone.

all of the data is peformed over-the-air and your phone will be activated with a simple call to customer solutions or *2.

Wow, they can provision the phone over the air now? I remember back about a year and a half ago, a little after the launch of PCS Vision, when I was having issues with my vision login name on my account not matching the one my phone was trying to use to login with. I had to go through some service menu on my phone to fix it.

In other news I bought a SCP-4900 on eBay. Now the waiting begins.
