Sprint Question???

OK so I returned my V300 w/ T-mobile cause they freakin suck and now I'm on a loaner Sprint phone. Its a Samsung VGA1000. If I do decide to go w/ Sprint I'm gonna get the Sanyo VM4500. My question is when I was making calls, I hear the other person very well...however the backround nise was chattering and cutting in and out constantly. My g/f said it was extremely clear on her end though. Strange. Then on the way home it went into roaming for like 2 miles and then back into Sprint area. Then when I get home and call my g/f...she cant hear me at all. Then she can hear me but she hears an echo on her voice thru the phone and says it's slightly staticy. My question is has anyone experienced this before w/ sprint??And being that this is a loaner phone than it probably doesn't have the dual mode service connected right??Do u think that the VM4500 w/ the dual mode service will be better or just stay away from sprint??What I mean by dual mode is it probably only has the free and clear plan...not the nationwide which uses Verizon lines when sprint has no service. I just don't want to buy a $200 phone thinking it will be better and then have to cancel another contract and return another phone. What should I do???

The phone's capability is independent of the service plan.

But....the VGA-1000?

The VM4500 is a better phone.
