im guessing one set of plans since it will be one company, however, im waiting to see verizon's response, i doubt they are going to sit idlely back and watch themselves go from being the largest carrier to #3 in one year. I wouldnt be suprised if verizon came in and bought both of them.

what about tmobile? reception is all relevent to where you are, i know some spots where nextel has the best coverage. however, as companies merge that nextels home network will be everything that it was before and all of sprints. the more cell phone companies merge, the better the coverage gets. i would love to see a merger between verizon/sprint/nextel.

It isnt official Guys, its possible Verizon might buy Nextel out instead, Verizon is really interested in a Merger or buying out, When AT&T was bought out, they were bidding too.

Verizon even without a merger is the biggest company, imagine what it can do with a merger

I heard SprinTel would be the new name if they merged, but its all Rumours

Didn't hear anything like that yet. However i'd prefer that over a merger with Sprint.

from what ive read, if verizon buys anyone it will be sprint or both sprint and nextel, i dont think they are interested in purchasing nextel alone. well find out this week, either way whoever buys who will be my next carrier.

Vodafone, sharetaker of Verizon was bidding for ATT when Cingular was too.

You are correct about Cingular having more customers now after the merger,
It's certainly a bet on the future. Together, Cingular and AT&T Wireless will have about 46 million wireless subscribers combined, far more than the 37.5 million customers at No. 2 Verizon Wireless.
But did you know AT&T is losing customers like crazy

Media reports said Verizon Wireless, the second largest U.S. wireless company, could be interested in making a bid for Sprint.

i think eventually there will be two carriers, verizon and cingular and then prepaid stuff. this merger will either leave us with 3 or 4 carriers.

I hope not, Competition is key for cheap prices, and I dont see anyone messing with buying T-Mobile, but who knows

actually when cingular and att merged, there is a rumor that verizon is going to come out with new plans to compete. as long as there is 2 carriers they will continue to compete against each other. before when verizon didnt have any real competition they kept prices higher then most now they are starting to realize they have to drop them. sprint is going to upgrade nextel from iden to cdma. tmobile will be the last carrier to merge since they are owned by deutsche (sp) but they lost a big contract with att when they merged so it might happen sooner then expected.

But I also know that Nextel is suppose to be the first provider out of debet, that was why their plans were expensive....?

debet? debt maybe?? and that makes no sense, usually issuing debt shows a strong financial position. your post makes no sense, nextel has relatively cheap plans.

Actually industry standards show nextel has one of the highest ARPU"s...(Average Revenue Per User).....their basic plan is about 60 bucks a month...while verizon and cingular is about 39.99 for the same amount of mintues...

NW Long Dis 2Way

Nextel National Power 800 $55.99 800 Unlimited Included Unlimited

800 Unlimited IN Calling Plus Unlimited Night & Weekend Home Airtime Minutes $59.99 $0.40

So verizon is 5 dollars more and that doesnt include 2 way, verizon has the highest cost of plans per minute.
