why dont they just get service centers in there store like verizon has techs in 98% of there stores??

cheaper to build a kiosk and leave it in a mall or something than hire a tech.

Meh, buy the end of this year or early next year it will be done over the air. Many OEM's and service providers are working out the detials on FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). It allows you to update the firmware in pieces, targeting what needs updating.
