Smartphones - Kyocera vs. Samsung

I've had a Kyocera 7135 smartphone for my job through Verizon and have had nothing but problems with it. I always get fatal errors and overall I'm not impressed with its stability. I've complained to Verizon and now they are offering me a deal on a Samsung SCH-i600. Anybody have one of these?

The i600 is a much better phone. But you should know that the Samsung is the Pocket PC operating system, not Palm like your 7135.

Have you tried getting your software upgraded on your 7135? I am using the SZ 1.0.29/MZ 1.0.44 builds, and I crash once a month maybe....

I can upgrade it for you if you want to send it my way. I will overnight it back.

I too also have a 7135 and it rarely crashes. I guess it depends how much free onboard ram you have on the unit and compatible programs you use with the phone. I messed with the i600 and its not a flexible as the 7135. I like the fact that the 7135 is touch screen, can minipulate the file system, and its Palm OS. I hear that if you're going to load 3rd party programs into the i600, they need to be VZW signed, or they won't install. I'm holding on to my 7135 until a better one comes down the road. Just my 2 cents.....

At this point, the Kyocera has to go back to Verizon because it won't even turn on. Last week I was navigating through the address book (usually when I get my fatal errors) and it crashed again. Unfortunately, even after a hard and soft reset, I couldn't get the phone to ever turn back on. Now it is just dead.

One thing though, I did not have the software upgrade. I had called Kyocera previously about the fatal errors and they suggested a series of steps to get rid of any old files from previous palms before I hot-synced. Anyway, I did it but obviously that hasn't helped. Finally, I was only using about half of my memory.

Treo 600 is a nice Palm PDA phone.
