Should I wait to buy the new Samsung 46" DLP?
Should I wait to buy the new Samsung 46" DLP?
Do you guys think it is worth the wait/price to buy the new 2005 Samsung 46" DLP? I believe it has another color on the wheel and an upgraded chip, however is it worth the price difference of about $1000? (I found an "open box" model from this year for ~$1000 off) Will I actually notice a difference?
Also, are there any negatives with going with DLP?
Thanks!

Price of large LCD monitors in summer melt down
Supply, demand, demand, supply

A COMBINATION OF lack of demand and stocks in the warehouse are leading to price crashes, according to a market research firm.
That is the biter bit, because the LCD panel makers artificially attempted to push the market into adopting 17-inch LCD monitors by pricing up 15-inch units.
According to iSuppli, buyers in June were worried about shortages and rises in panel prices. But by the end of flaming June, a miracle happened and in July prices have dropped by five per cent compared to June.
The report claims that the "most surprising drop" came in the 15-inch monitor arena - prices fell by $13 from June to July, despite an acute shortage as the panel makers moved to the larger sizes.
Notebook panel prices and mobile LCD units look like they are dropping in price too.
In August, a 14-inch notebook panel may fall by $20 and TV panels may plunge by over $50. The report reckons that 53% of large sized panel demand comes from monitors, price increases are unlikely for a while because there's too much stuff in warehouses. µ
